think i've got enough wip stoof to start a thread
The idea behind this bunch is that they're the retinue of a wandering medicine man who plies his trade travelling from settlement to settlement in a scifi/post apocalyptic world. When on the road they drum up extra business by crashing into other travellers and then charging them to fix up their injuries.
the mechanic -
the nurse, also the driver
pablo the anaesthetist
the doc
the patient
a scrubby paintover showing the direction for the vehicle. It's going to have a ragged tent on the back and a rickety dentists chair hanging off one side. Sometimes they'll drive about with a patient strapped in if they don't pay their fees..
They're all wips so any crits would be very welcome, especially anatomical tips!

You have a website or portfolio? I'd like to add your site to my favorites so I can go back to get inspired.
Such good stuff, all of it, but for the sake of improvement I'll try to find something, anything, to fix up... hmmm... this might take a while, lol
-It could be cause of how wip the doc is, but his pouches seem like they could use more detailing, especially the large ones on the side of his thighs
-Also, I think the shoulder pack thing that slashes across his torso could be more pronounced--in the profile, it's looking a little flat.
lol and that's all the nitpicking I can bring myself to do :P
Btw, did you use some actor as reference for 'pablo'? Cause he looks like a few actors I recognize but none I can put my finger on...
-Tyler
Oh yeah, one thing, though... Put your website online ffs !
Superbe project !
I'm sure they would hire you on the fly
Just curious- and feel free to tell me to mind my own business if it's too nebby- but since you're a UK denizen, wherebaouts do you work?
Johnny - cheers Johnny, i knew all those years studying boobs would pay off in the end
gobee - thanks! I've got a site - www.adventuresincommuting.com, but there isn't really anything on it. I do have an folio i use to show clients but it's all out of date and pretty old stuff now.
hobodactly - cheers hobo, always looking for anatomy crits :]
Mezz - thanks for the crit! the pouches are definitely blobby, i'll remake them with boxes. I'm not sure if they'll be part of his clothing or hanging from a belt just yet. I used a couple of different refs for pablo, though i don't think any were actors.
renaud - thanks renaud, not forgotten about it, honest! I'm aiming to have something online this month provided work doesn't get too hairy. I'd like to kick it off with new stuff rather than rely solely on old work though
Ged - Yeah that's the plan, the process is create the final topology, unwrap that then subdivide in zbrush and project the highres modeling and colours. then it's straightforward to extract the polypaint to a texture
fat_cap -cheers fat cap! i'm based in edinburgh and currently working as a contract/freelance character artist (should probably advertise that more )
warriah - thanks warriah, the nurse uses mudcap1 by maxaya with some tweaks in the material modifier, more monochromatic and has bit more intensity. The nice matcap with the rimlight is one of ralf stumpfs, i think it's rs_oilclayred, also with tweaks in the material modifier.
http://gnomonology.com/tutorial/220 - the western clay material is really good for sculpting too
You need to be working on every game kite.
MORE PLEAZ
Anyhow, very inspiring!

I need to go get that movie! lol
Great work! love the characters! Makes me envious heh
I dig it
KICK. ASS.
Fantastic modelling and characters.
I smell a Rage mod down the line
Please tell the the 'anesthetic' is a big ol hammer
Are you going to make them game-friendly? (I guess those are zbrush polygon paintings at the moment)
Can't wait to see them posed too!
