I had a little trouble installing in windows 7x64
Can't see or scroll to the "install" button, I tried some compatibility modes which didn't help until realized I just had to press tab until I figured I was on the button then enter ^_^.
only the old 0.5 release is available for download right now here. The new version will be available as soon as its feature complete to release it (some stuff is broken right now in my build).

Hey I've had no issues installing on my PC at home but at the office PC, i've installed AIR and opene the RAR file for 0.5 and extracted all files to a folder. Which of these files am i supposed to run to install? Doesn't seem like any of them do anything
This is too effing cool, looks way better than texture maker, because it doesn't have a lot of other junk - it's like roadkill, but for texture extraction. You're the man.
BUMP.. yea I would PAY good money for this.. even at the 0.5 version it speeds up and is part of my every day work flow! Any chance of beta testing an update? :poly122:
There was only one problematic thing for me in old TexRipper.
When I was working with high res photos, image popping up after selection was covering all my screen, and could not be moved more than half of the screen. Resizing it was changing output texture too.
Is there any solution for that in old TexRipper?

Yes that one is known, the screen res vs content size and window movement. I am aiming to address that in the future. But in the last texRipper release there was I believe a zoom functionality so you can avoid that until even the zoom doesn't prevent that anymore.
Anyhow I am looking into this tool not to far away and rewrite some of the UI, so its more robost against stuff like that.
Will look into that, I am using a template for the Adobe Air application from FlashDevelop (open source AS3 editor), it could have those settings enabled by default for the air app.
All I need is access to the desktop and clipboard, will see if I can limit it to those 2 options. Bitmapdata access to the clipboard is not available for the browser flash player and the only reason why I went with AIR, otherwise a web app would do.
And yes I can add a 22.5/15/45 degree angle snap
There is still the intention to launch as separate tool?

After a long break I started to resurrect this project again I will be adding this as a tool to the ShoeBox set which is free as well. The only difference will be that it will reside next to other bitmap and sprite related tools.
A early version I did put together yesterday evening:
Some things I already managed to improve:
construction control: You can either drag 2 lines to construct a quadrilateral (4 sided polygon) or single click 4 corners.
separate navigation spaces: As part of ShoeBox I have these navigation spaces that you can control in 3dsMax fashion: Middle mouse button to zoom in / out and to truck the view.
Preview grid as you construct the quadrilateral
You can drag and drop a bunch if different file formats including png, jpg, psd, tga, bmp,... but you can also use your clipboard.
Customization settings: Right now snap settings are editable. But I plan having some other options as well to tweak. To edit settings in ShoeBox you right click on a tool and a settings panel will pop up.
Other changes I plan on implementing:
Easier to just use it as a clipboard tool: Import and export to your clipboard, no need to save the slices each time to the desktop.
Save to dialog instead of a default desktop location with random file names.
Improved center control pivot and surface distribution controls (e.g. for rounded surfaces to shorten or spread the distribution of a axis better).
There is a grid preview now when you construct a quadliteral and it suggests auto complete shapes if you define just 2x, or 3x corners in which case it will suggest a square or a romb shape unless you continue.
The navigation areas are improved too with zoom states being displayed as you change the zoom and then fade out.
I still have to port the icon display, edge controls, center pivot control and save functionality but I find this version already feeling a lot nicer and easier to use.
Brilliant, I haven't been able to find a better ap for pulling textures from photo's, so good to hear it's still alive. I use it everyday, can't wait for the updates.
Like before you can drag and drop 2 lines to form a 4 sided area. But now you can also just simply single click for corners to form an area. If you are close to another corner before finishing all 4 corners it will try to auto complete a romb shape.
There is a new grid preview that will help seeing easier if slices are aligned correctly. If you move your mouse cursor in the 2D space you can actually offset the grid and see the mouse coordinate in perspective view.
Once cool nice feature is that you can transform the slices in local space to extend or trim for example edges or simply move the slice in local space. Simply hold down the Shift key and then either move the slice, resize the edges or re-adjust the corners.

Did the same thing myself
Without the Adobe AIR environment I can't copy Bitmaps to or from the clipboard- thats why I am going with this whole Adobe AIR thing. Anyway for your info:

another post on how specifically to install this:

I am assuming though that most people here in the tech forums know how to inform themselves or pick up easy / obvious stuff like this.
oh ok thanks didnt realise it functioned that way
It will be merged with this:

pc thread:

but I won´t extend it much for the near future. Just take basic functionality and some minor improvements.

My shoebox isn't auto-updating though, and it would appear the download on your site is 404ing.
