hello, i will try to keep that thread in hot condition.
in university i am doing drawings and paintings, and don't really have much time to make cg.
but here we go...
Wow, the rendering on this piece is awesome! Got a very nice hand painted feel to it. Have you tried adding some subtle texture to the metal through special brushes? Cause I really think just a little bit of texture to the armor would really make the image pop. And some discordance in the shadows too.
a lot of your shapes seem to be related to LoTR inspired designs in one way or another. good sketches, but for a crit i guess i'd like to see more shapes outside what appear to be your comfort zone. not so many jagged shapes (very uruk hai) try some different methods. color can wait, i would still continue mostly monochromatic studies since you're doing well with them.
I really like your brush strokes, really hard but also soft and smudgy, is it mostly one brush? could you describe how to go about getting that setting in your software... Im guessing its painter?
very nice doodle, seems youve blocked out all the colours and anatomy really well, are you gonna finish it? thanks for the tips on the PS brushes, I use similar brushes, I guess I just need to get more confident in how I use them .
Surprising how well that figure works on such a bright and intense colour, well described idea there. Captures the mood of a western with an orcish fellow riding a... intimidating looking mount .
Good work throughout, this will be a fun thread to follow.
i can't believe I hadn't seen your sketchbook thread yet
this shit is incredible conte. incredible studies and concepts. your surfaces are defined so well, niiiice
