You can definitely get away with your character looking futuristic and still fit into the brief and I think you're doing fairly well so far. Just need to keep hammering away.
Really liking the direction you're taking this guy and it has come a long way since the initial concepts.
Now lets get this puppy finished and pimp, in textbook roo style! GO GO GO!
Really cool man, that mask is great. You going to do alpha tufts of hair on this guy, thick 'strips' down the back of his arms maybe and head (mohawk style) maybe?
Looking foward to seeing how this turns out, make sure you finish in time!
cheers!
that right leg is going to have more damage applied to it and look like its been patched up (some plates of interlocking metal showing under fabric)
That's looking very spiffy with the lighting baked in Roo!
I would like to see the feet slightly bigger though - the "trotters" look he has at the minute makes him look a bit unbalanced/ even dainty. could just be the angle though and I can't see the real shape.
hehe cheers.. im knackered but need to press on for the final sprint
rick, it is baked from the high poly, although ill be using some crazybump goodness and probably also bake from the low poly to get some big shading im missing
omg, I thought you wouldnt make it in time but you sure proved me wrong.... the results are damn cool!! You can do it. Best of luck with the final sprint.
sorry, big pix
edit: theres no gloss currently, and spec is pretty basic.
i cant get gloss maps working in high quality display tho i think your allowed to use software renderer??
lol cheers guys.. i had a lot of fun with this guy!
i feel like I took my work up a notch from the previous year (I hope others agree) and learned a ton in the process which I plan on compiling my thoughts about
This character has come so far from what I have seen in the begining of your thread, and it was well worth all the hard work! Great job! This is one of my favorites!

a lot of the blank looking bits will be enhanced with crazybumpage, so there wont be the disparity between the kit and the suit
keeping the mask ill make it interesting somehow haha

Still, you'll get a lot of data out of your bakes.
Did you generate the AO by baking it onto you low poly from the high? I might try to fake mine by baking AO from the normal map.

Keep it up...go, go, go, go, go!
