that's great, i can't wait to see the lowpoly one...
pants are strange because falls too much over the feet
see http://www.anime-model-sheets.com/show.php?w=1105 i think they needs to drop much higher and close up over the feet, and not cover it at all
pliang: i liked your idea, since is a redesign, i dont care if its equal, here it is the update
_Eclipse_: that helpt me alot, thx man, i took the idea too, didnt make it to the socks, but i´ve put it up more and created kinda silhouete.
Mtg_Kirin: thanks man, i will take a deep look on it.
Kelly: Hey, yeah, its me, haha
thanks veteehrri, I took all the night to finish the capturing and texturing it out, its still without any AO baking. I will bake it later with more time, but you can have a great idea of what is comming.
one thing i feel is that the head and body look disconnected, cuz the head looks to be of a different colour.. maybe its the lighting, or maybe its cuz i only have 3hrs sleep in me... but it seems bluer... maybe it looks fine close-up though [might just be cuz the gray of the beard dominating the neck etc]
One suggestion is that you might want to tweak the shadow colors a bit. Assuming you are using an AO layer in Photoshop, try fading it to a darker related color instead of just multiplying it. Maybe dark orange for the yellow fabric, and a darker reddish tone for the skin?
He looks great, I don't mean to criticize the piece as a whole. The spirals on his elbows are neat.
Looks so nice! What do you view it in? I like that ponytail castshadow you have. I suppose Xnormal or UT3?
Oh and btw I know the original has yellow arm pieces but I think it would look sooo much better with a dark, gritty and realistic leather material for yours.
TheWinterLord: Thanks man!
b1ll: THanks!
Mtg_kirin: Yah, ur right, i will have to make the skin a little bit more red in the face.
Blue: Hey, thanks man, but there´s no AO yet i didnt bake any AO, but I´ve painted some darkish, i will try to make what you said, thanks alot
rooster: thanks alot rooster!
pior: Hey buddy, I just use Maya viewport high quality, nothing more really, shadowing comes with it, you can see shadow by that, but you have to use a spot light for that.
I will think on the material, may be you´re right, if its realistic...
This piece looks really nice in some ways, but is a real let down in others. The color choice is looking awkward. And the pants need some help. The skill is definitely there, but the turtles-esque knee pad rag thing, is out of place..also the way the pants get super big at the bottom makes no sense, and the fact that they just get huge out of nowhere right after the knee section looks off.
The head and most of the upper body looks pretty great though...I would just change the colors up, and mess with the way the pants bulge out.
tremulant: hey dood, thanks, but please, take a look at the concepts in the first page, maybe you could see what i was trying to do.
Mtg_kirin: thanks man, maybe some day i can do a more asian likeness. But for now my time has gone, need to work some
KillingPeople: Hey buddy, thanks, but yeah, Mtg_kirin, he needs to be more older, different from the concept
Definitely awesome work, I'm loving the 3D remakes of the SF3 characters going around here.
If there's anything to nitpick at, it'd be colour variations and detailing on the diffuse for the body to bring it to the quality the head has... but that really is nitpicking.
It's a really solid piece of work, you should be proud.

haven't read through your thread entirely, so i'm not sure this is a goal of yours but, if you lose his scruff, he'll look much younger.

nope he is supposed to look old. But I still think he should be tanner. more of an asian skin tone
sidenote: Love the bit of blood on his gloves
