If you're looking for a 3d painting app, cinema 4d/bodypaint 3d is the best one imo and Maxon has a nice demo available.
I think your model is very well proportioned and I dig the style of it. Hope to see it textured soon.
Don't you think this could use some kind of a nudity warning? What kind of animal is that supposed to be, anyway?
[/ QUOTE ]
I believe the genus and species for that one is 'Actorus for Furrypornus.'
That being said, some sort of warning probably would be appropriate. Perhaps [Furry NSFA]or some such.
I'm impressed you took the time to make sure she had alpha planed pube-shag... I think this could turn out bodacious.
To get to your request: Nobody has the time to sit down and explain how to paint textures to everyone who asks. This is why online tutorials have been made. Once you've actually taken a stab at the texture, be sure to show us and we'll help you along by critiquing it and showing you where to improve, but you have to have *some* attempt at it done.

I thank you for not posing her spread eagle as you probably plan to after she's finished.... next time put a warning up.
I though you might also want to see my concept sketch for my Hyena Combat Caster model?
For those of you that wanted to shame me:
Shame is a controlling device. Shamming some one is an attempt to prevent the person from behaving in a way that embarrasses you. When people dont want to see something they get mad at the one hoom shows them, they kill the messenger.
Shouldnt you be working at work?
[/ QUOTE ]
Shouldn't you be lusting over humans instead of mythical animals?
#2: No one is 'shamming' you. A lot of people browse these forums at public places, like work. Instead of defensively criticizing their use of time, why don't you just appreciate the fact that they opened your 'Help me paint textures' thread (presumably to try and help) and edit in a 'Nudity' warning at least?
Edit: That GFX artist tutorials page link is awesome, thanks for sharing it.
Maus - your concept is actually pretty well done. Your model seems to stray from it a bit... took a wrong turn and ended up in straight-up furry porn instead of the more acceptable animal warrior. A lot of that has to do with the proportions in the concept vs the model. The concept is much more appealing in that regard. Most noticeably is the head. Concept = bad warrior hyena chick whereas the model = pubescent anime sex slave. Yuckers for most of us.
Also, where is all her armor and weapons? They've got some cool shit going on with them and go a loooong way towards legitimizing this piece. If you are planning on making them, think of what on the model will never be seen. Notably, the large nipples and crotch hair, the fringes of hair on the wrist and one shoulder, etc.
Is she going to be wearing heels of some sort, if not her feet are oddly positioned. If you were going for a digitigrade morphology it needs some reworking.
^^ I didnt know I could edit my post ^^
This is my first character model, I know she is not perfect, but that is why I am here to learn.
I havent finished modeling her gear yet, I wanted to make several costumes for her like a dress up doll, so I modeled her first and intended to place her costumes over her.
I was trying for a digitagrade look with out making her feet look to long.
[edit] hey just FYI if you are talking about basic texture mapping and photoshoping...and not normal mapping...i don't mind teaching you. (I am still trying to learn normal mapping, but i can teach you what i know. I know its sucks to learn this stuff by yourself)
the only thing i want to know is if you plan on making her like your consept, why would you go through the trouble of making her atonimacally correct? I mean if your going to cover it up why...just why...It is an interesting consept. I also can not wait to see the finished product.

Because its furry porn.

THIS IS SPARTAAAAAAAA *kicks OP into a pit*
Seriously, your concept is nice and I don't think anybody has a problem with it. But your model is unabashed furry porn. It even has that stupid grin that furries always have.
I would love to learn what I can from you thank you vary much for offering to help me I will send you an email in a few mints here, thanks.
Well Spider2cool because I can, theirs no working anatomy under there its just a tuft of thick fur to hide it so its not vulgar looking or fake looking like a toy. So I am sorry to smash EarthQuakes dreams of porn. But its like my life drawing teacher sad, in porn the girls and guys shave down there
[/ QUOTE ]
In furry porn nobody shaves, because its...... ummmm.... furry porn, yeah.

No, this still definitely qualifies as furry porn.
Sorry that may have been rood on my part but, look I would much rather be your friend, so put what ever past unhappiness you have behind us and lets move on ok? XD
So what do you say?
Want to be friends?
(phew glad that never happened, and I have moved on since then. And here you are still over human-anatomically correct animal furries with silly excuses LOL)
Welcome to polycount btw, we'll help you get over your furryness cold turkey, at no cost to you!!!! Only 4 easy payments of $99.99.
Anywho, I'm not scared of dog boobs so I'll drop you some crits.
Model-wise, you look to have the human proportions pretty much spot on. She's got a ways to go until she amtches your lovely concept though. One of the major differences is how muscular your concept is compared to your model. Your concept character has real weight to her. She looks like a warrior and its a physique thats particularly befitting of an anthropomorphised hyena who are usually lean and very muscular particularly around the forequarters. One aspect of the hyena you might want to consider is how hunched over they tend to look with their big bulky shoulders. It'll make her less attractive but potentially more aggressive looking, which might work well.
I don't think you've really got the face nailed either yet. The concept is very recognisable as a hyena, the model pushes more towards distorted human features and doesn't work nearly as well. The shape of the eyes and snout are quite different and I think it'd be well worth trying to match them closer to your design.
The breasts strike me as a little on the large and somewhat saggy side, which takes away from the lean-ness the model really needs. I think she'd work better lesser endowed as both warrior and scavenging canine.
Texturewise, there are plenty of links here that'll cover the basics. The best thing I could suggest is find yourself some realworld references of Hyenas and humans and then do a search for gnolls which are similarly anthropomorphised hyenas from Dungeons and Dragons and various other fantasy Mythos (the World of Warcraft ones are rather nice).
Anyway, keep at it and don't let the haters get you down. That said, you might want to get some simple clothes on that model sooner rather than later so people quit whining.
wtf?
Does nobody get that this char was NOT made for furry porn?
You know... not everybody is BORN with the knowledge of what the term "furry" stands for. Some haven't even SEEN furry porn, can you believe that??
You know... it is almost exactly what happened to me some time ago. I was looking for a concept of werewolf, and when I came up to this
http://warchild13.com/images/images/Frazetta-Werewolf.jpg
I was told that it was too "furry". But I had to be explained what "furry" means.
So, I suppose this just another fantasy character.
Fellas like this exist in may games, and not only as minotaurs. Other animal-headed humans exist in games likek WoW, Wizards&Warriors, Planeshift etc.
I see that the fact that she is nude disturbs you, making it resemble to a furry char. But before offending someone for making a char that looks "furry", perhaps you sould explain him/her what "furry" stands for and what disturbs you about it.

Yeah, uh... I think this guy knows.
Well she looks like a cheap porn star what do you want...
Maus I think the human proportions are nice, but not true to the character in the concept. If you don't want people focusing on her as a sexual being don't texture her that way. Putting pink nipples and alpha planed hair was kind of pointless and that made the character look tacky. The expression of the face is all wrong too if you compare it to the concept. Look at the Thundercats, there where episodes where the cats seemed to have no clothes on but they way they were painted didn't draw attention to that. Well if you are too young to know what those cartoons well, sorry then grampa Sage can't help you there. Look at comics books also, look how they treat their female characters, they are suggestive and not explicit at all which helps prevents them from looking tacky. Nice concept though I hope you finish this like the concept.
Here is a link that will show you some basics on how to photosource a texture

Hahah holy shit. Yeah I checked the site too ... some serious furry porn on there. I think it moved a little.
ok..im confused, i see no images and he has no website ...what you guys see that i dont?
[/ QUOTE ]
just follow the url he used for his concept image:
http://www.artbymaus.com/
although if you can't see any of his images i see how that could have beena problem
and to op, good sculptures and good drawings (ignoring their content), you have skill in the traditional art realm, but if you want to geta job in the industry you might want to start working on human stuff. furry porn on a portfolio will not fly with most (if not all) recruitment guys.
