I had some ruff time in the past weeks to compensate the time spent on Dominance WarII entry ... but i did find some free time and managed to make a small tutorial about game character hair.
If you find spelling errors please let me know ... or if you have any idea to improve it or want something else to be added to it also let me know ...
This is my contribution to the polycount forums as a token of gratitude for the support received during Dominance War II competition. You guys helped me alot and kept me going and i thank you for that.
I hope that you will enjoy this tutorial and that you will find something useful by wasting your time browsing it .
let me be the first to say THANK YOU!!! This tutorial is very well done, I will try this very soon, very ingenious way to get great results with low poly hair. On a side note, your character is really cool I wish you the best of luck on the war.
I am pleased to find out that you liked it , if there is a special place for tutorials on the polycount forums (though I haven't seen it yet) please let me know ... maybe others are interested in this too but will not browse my dom war entry thread ... so it will be a pitty since i spent some time to put it all together ...
Criminal is what it is
Renders have desktop potential... Hmmmmm.
EDIT: After downloading the hi-res movie.. It's impressed me even further, that's surely arguing it's case for a top 3 placement somewhere.
Absolutely gorgeous stuff, the art direction is killer.
DAG ON! that's nice presentation. I love it. I almost wish we'd make a demo reel presentation like that mandatory for next year. I feel like I got so much more ability to appreciate the character, and what went into making her.
Indeed, I was also very much in the frontline of the 'WTF!? Brigade' when I saw this didn't place in the war, considering the amazing work that it is, and how it actually stuck to the brief.
hawken: thanks for appreciation ... "Maybe the judges don't like women?" ... maybe ...
RazorBladder: tnks ... you can find some wallpapers on the dom war site with varga:)
poopinmymouth: "I almost wish we'd make a demo reel presentation like that mandatory for next year" ... sounds like a good idea ... but that will require more work for each of us ... more images will do the trick ...i found it a little awkward to make a presentation of the whole model(low/high versions and concepts and renders) on 5 sheets 800x900 since the texture sheet was 2k ... you can't even show the texture at full rez ... and i find it hard to believe that all the judges browsed the forums for detail images ...but ... what cha' gonna do ...:)
Jackablade: glad you liked the movie ... and yes the sound is autechre:)

Everything looks like an extremely well-done grungey comic, in honesty I can scarcely tell what image is modelled and what's concept.
Very kool style.
P.S.:Killer work, she's gorgeous!
... it was fun nonetheless ...
high quality(79M wmv file)
low quality(17M wmv file)
and some renders after the comp was over ...
