radical and badical.. i think one of your more interesting head designs would be a little cooler than a straight up dinosaur head, but it still looks really cool.
it's been touched on by a few people, but what i think i'm digging the most is your inversion of some of the typical form language of badassedness--namely a huge lizard-y head and much smaller arms. the concept as it stands now is more or less unimpeachable, and we certainly can rest easy in your ability to execute it in 3D with a flourish. keep us updated man
i would love to jump in with more love and praise, but you have like a page and a half of that, so im gonna take a path of crit.
if we could get a side shot of the character it might help clear some things up, cause right now, he would have to have a tilted pelvis like a T-rex to balance. i would shrink the head down a bit, it is rad looking on its own, but you took a bunch of awesome and crammed it into one guy without checking if they go together or not. The legs should be a bit bulkier in order to hold up such mass that you have there, he needs some big ass stomping feet to help with both balance and support of weight. i understand that you are going for that T-rex feel with the tiny little arms and the giant chompers, but personaly, i dont feel that it is working out quite well, but i think it still goes back to the legs. try tilting his body foreward a bit and giving him bigger legs, and make sure you dont do anything to that tail, that is what is going to make him work, the tail is the counter balance and i love the mass that you gave it. He just needs to lean a bit, right now he is upright like he is civilized, he is pure evil, he should be hunkered over more like the savage beast that he is.
i love what you have, just play with the balance of the wieghts, and this guy is gonna be solid.
The only thing coming out of The Slap is demoralizing banter! No one can deny your skill, but does Shadow have what it takes to over come LIGHT and VENGANCE?!!!! I think NOT!
this is an incredible concept! even though I'm on another team I have to say this thing Is awesome! I can't wait to see it finished, absolutely amazing!
Yarr here's an update.. it's not quite as much progress as I would have liked but I've had some commitments outside the War and couldn't work on this one a whole lot. There are a couple of flaws and a general muddyness to the model, but time's running out so I better move on to the weapons & equipment & misc faff. Hoping to be able to fix up some areas and add more detail in Photoshop later on
richkid - thanks for the input, I've been trying to balance him out a bit more. It'll hopefully come together once he's rigged and posed..
the skin of this creature is realy.. hmm .. work that only insane peoply can do .. bc all other would become insane.. and nobody who is not insane wants that *G*
only the armor on his lower legs is still bit blobby
aww, i miss the oversized head and noodly lizard arms from the concept... reminded me strongly of how Bill Watterson drew dinosaurs in Calvin and Hobbes. anyway, the model is coming to life quite nicely, though i hope you'll pose him more hunched over like you have in the concepts. feet clearly need more shaping and refining, but all in due course. the attention to detail on the head is really something. keep us updated man
awesome model man, the model definatly looks more balanced than the concept did, and when posed im sure will help too.
i felt like a dick after i posted that and you didnt put anything up for like two or three weeks, but it looks like you were busy making it work. nice recovery man.
i think you capture the details well both in your concepts and in your model. i personally am a larger fan of your concept than i am the model, primarily because the overall shape of the arms, fingers, and feet are kind of a bulky mess - but that's just an opinion. i'm really digging the head and armor and you are doing a fantastic job.
Cheers everyone. Things have been fairly busy of late, and there is a good chance I might not finish on time. It's going to be a rough weekend to say the least
gauss - I've been playing with proportions today (tried making the head heavier and adjusting the arms' noodliness), without getting any useful results. I hope he's going to feel a bit less sterile once he's posed and has some colour over him..
Here's what the high and lowpoly ended up looking like last night - I've since finished the unwrap, baked & assembled some of the bits and started messing with textures, though the plan is to get the rig and pose out of the way first. Hopefully I'll have more to show over the weekend.
It's looking great man. You can't even tell the dif between the high and low characters. It's time to bleed to get this one finished in time! Good Luck
very nice! one of my favorites could be my laptop monitor but it could use a bit more contrast maybe? dont know what it looks like on a proper screen though
Dammit Pete, you had to go and demoralise me right now!
That's just ridiculously good...
However I have to agree with Henning, looks very dark and quite desaturated to me here (although maybe that's just your lighting setup?)... I'd definitely pump the brightness and saturation in some areas to make them pop out.
Really cool stuff though, and fast too. Don't get blood on me!
Oh yeaaah!
This is looking mighty fine peppi as I expected.
This is absolutely gorgeous.
My only suggestion would be to make the spiked ball much more jagged in appearence, more like the concept.
Looks bright enough where I'm sitting, contrast only a slight issue.
ahahaha nice peppi, I<d say the metal need just a bit more punch, it blend in too much with the skin, need a tiny bit more sharp highlight on corners and such, but nice man!!
OH i do agree that tiny arms ala Calvin and hobbles dino would of been so FUCKING sick!,

Nah, just kidding... that's an awesome concept. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the model!
Crunch time schmunch time!
Loving the armour especially. Very sexy.
Ridiculously awesome :]
That's wontabulous texturey stuff on those guys.
God damn...
I need to practice more.

The Slap was here! CGCHAT FTW

Though it doesn't look quite as fierce as the concept.

EDIT: Just figured out why... It's the lack of teeth!
