actually i'm pretty impressed with the iterations and great imput from a variety of polycounters--namely skanker and ninjas. katz, i think with the quality of your modeling and texturing, you're more than ready to give miss goth lightningclawzz a full go. you'll suss out the small stuff in due course, but i'm really interested to see you get her basemesh nailed down. let's have some updates, man!
This has come along ways, it took a while to read the thred :P I suggest looking at WH40K's Witch Hunters concept art and models, they have this tyle and might help with some of the stuff you were unable to figure out in the drawing phase.
Nice! I didnt like your concept at first, to be honest, but you're making it look super in 3D! I'm liking it more and more. Except she has a bald spot on top of her head - I dont know if it's intentional.
I'm for Your fan since begining - really like Your concept.
Your metal texture is excelent but maybe it's going to miss some variety. It's too uniforme.
But the color scheme seems garish overall though...I'm seeing greens, oranges, and purples, that's never a good combination. (then again i'm color deficient so maybe it's just me) Try plotting down color swatches on a blank canvas and find a pleasing combination. You can carry on using the color scheme you have now, and just color balance the diffuse map at the end.
The wear and tear is also very consistent, usually beaten metal is grungier around the corners. No need to add them now, as that step is best saved for last, but it's something to keep in mind.
I'd start breaking up the parts into different materials. Things like plastic, gold, silver, bronze, steel, titanium, and others. The color spec is made just for this reason so you can have different material types. The fall off map you can put in the alpha sells the materials even more.
I think once you start breaking up the parts so they pop out more this will be a very hot character.
thanks for all the comments!
This is a very basic screenshot with all parts. I will use this for some overpainting. Would be nice if you guys could make some quick overpaint actiosn too
this is coming on a treat man very happy its going this way one thing I reckon, those knives look a bit teensy, what about making the outer blade a bit more meaty (or a lot more).. as it is it might just cause a flesh wound in some of the bigger enemy shadows. I want something that cleaves great bloody chasms!
yes:
- the metal geometry
- the metal specular texture
- the bloody glove of some pervert that tried to touch her and paid the price
- the frag count graffiti
- the ripped clothing ( the stuff on the concept would be too much )
No:
-the dark make up around the eyes
-the orange orbs
-the blood coming out of her eyes
-the weapons she wears that contreption for
-the hate kill danger punk grafitis (lame)
-different colored eyes
-the red lightnings
-nipple piercing i would cover the nipple up no matter what but if then nipple must hang out or be visiable under transparent cloth than at least no ring please
this is quite nice work but that hand print on her body just sucks ass. sorry agreed with warby on the eye makeup and blood from her eyes. something feelts wrong about her head
well I like the eyes, I think its just a shade too dark. I would make the eye makeup a little more subtle and maybe see if the eye blood could be more realistic? also think red electro looks better than yello
This is really hardcore. I like all the metal and grunchy details. But im really not sure of all the blood.
I think the problem of the blood is that it looks like she is coming out of one of this funny splatter horror movies...i think of movies like "braindead".
Maybe make more scars and less blood.
P.S. Wenn das Herr Beckstein sehen würde würdest du erst mal als gefährlicher Killerspiel Game Artist abgestempelt und das SEK würde deine Wohnung stürmen.
One of the things that jumps out at me is the blood coming from the eyes... it looks like makeup because it doesn't follow the contours of her face like real liquid would... its just straight down from her entire eye.
Also, for the blood on her body and elsewhere, make sure to put it in layers; you want some very dark colors for some dried blood globs, some rusty colors for the thinner stuff that would be flaking off, and the bright red on the very top where the new liquid stuff would be.
Wow, this has certainly come together since the last time I looked at it. Not the most practical looking armour what with the compleley exposed vital areas and inability to move her upper arms, but it looks neat nonetheless.
Do you think the hands are a smidgen on the small side?
its so strange, you've got some really nice materials, lighting, modeling all going on here.... But as a whole the peice just feels wierd to me, cant really say what it is, it might just be the creepyness factor of the concept itself.... dunno

started modeling
Awesome.
Keep up the good work and lets see some more
maybe the bellybutton is a bit smal?!
but hey.. its wip and its nice.. keep going
started the lowpoly model
only started to texture the main breast plate, the rest is only normalmap+ao.
also no specularmap.
newer version
just a screeshot, so please ignore the crappy shadows
But none the less AWESOME JOB
its just normal and diffuse right now right?
I used a temporary specular map..
some booooots
but the modeling side of things rocks! suprised!

Simple and quick idea of base -
go on

Great progress, keep it up!

changed some suggestions, but I just like the blood and the red lightning ;(
now everything is modelt, don't know if i will have the time to model some weapons

yeah, I think I will sue more scars and maybee some dirt.
I don't like scalinging ov the different bodyparts though. Time to scale and tweak some things
e: btw I just heate the direction my model is leading me

Hehehe - I thought we are already marked as a danger to the youth.

cheap glow, the final image will have hdri.
The base needs some ambient occlusion and (props to rollin)the lightning will be better.
you know wat i think .. so doit!
btw: *spam* *spam*
Do you think the hands are a smidgen on the small side?
the model is bit to wide..(especially the lower body) in max i would apply a slight negativ push modifier.. no idear what to do in binemaya
and pedestal lighting rox.
keep up!
