...has some bruising around both of her eyes...

Yup, extreme, sustained sleep deprivation will cause fatigue bruises around the eyes similar to a black eye. I'm going to ballance them some more when the model is closer to finished, but that's the look I'm going for.
Thnom: Lately I've been fetishizing strawberry blonde shocks of hair on a regular blonde scalp in my characters (naruto had it too). I think it's a neat characteristic.
Thanks for the comments on the hair guys, don't forget I have the whole thing timelapsed for your viewing pleasure when I get back from Europa.
Thats damn sweet poop. I love the region around the eyes all bruised up and what not. Hair is slick too. I would add a couple stray strands that don't really follow the flow of the hair. But it won't even be that noticable so maybe just ignore the previous statement. I say leave it as is. Can't wait to see the rest.
Looks sweet, Poop. The latest update has added a lot of life to the face, you've got a really nice palette on this one. I can't wait to watch the videos, thanks again for recording all your super secret techniques.

Thanks guys! Dur, I emailed you, Dfacto, where do you live in Germany? I'm visiting Cologne and Leipzig next month, we should hang out. Gimme an email.
Also Dur, I am thinking some stray hairs are a good idea.
Lame update I know, but tonight was taken up a bit more with my *secret surprise* that distracted me this weekend. I got my masks and layers all layed out, I'm ready for hardcore painting.
Lookin good, I really love the hair. I think the crease for the chin under the lips is looking a bit too hard atm, but thats more of a preference thing.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the texture (and watching your vids of course. Always looking for new tricks to pick up)
I really like her body physique. She has a great feel and weight to her. Knocked that right out of the park. I also like the hair in the back and the color variations. Its coming along really nicely, i can't wait to see the final polished version.
I still can't get over the hair. That's a really impressive job Poopy. I know you're documenting all the development of this. Really interested in seeing how you handled the hair. Aside from that it looks really cool. Has a cold Empire/Star Wars feel to it. Are you going to make her uniform clean like most military people or match it to her face?
something about the eyes is bugging me from that far away, looks bug eyed or something... cant really explain properly, just something feels off.... Maybe try squinting the eyes a little bit? Or making them a little darker.... Just something to blend them in better with the model
Really nice job poop, very understated and subtle take on the brief. I love her thousand yard stare, got to stop watching the late night torture channel...
I'm with Kite, I like how you took the brief in another direction. I was a bit worried when I didn't see a mutated arm or giant sword, but you really pulled it off. Very elegant, I can't wait to watch the videos. Way to earn your spot in my inspiration folder.
this came out interestingly... if that's even a word.
The model is good, though the texture could use some work. It's not *as* obvious on the model, but after looking at the flats, she looks like she's been beaten in both her eye sockets pretty thoroughly heh. I had to fight this issue a lot on my early female faces... you want to add so much more detail but it all ends up making the face look less femenine. So unless you're going for a very butch/masuline/dirty look, the face should be pretty smooth in terms of colors and forms.
The all-around darkness of the costume combined with the criss-cross pattern kinda destroy all the forms too. Can barely make out anything besides the sillouette without looking really closely at the model. The boots are my favorite part, I think you pulled off the leather shine perfectly.
Good work on her Poop!
I have to agree with what ferg says about the lines, maybe if you reduced the thickness of the lines or scaled them down to about half what they are now? But I really think you got the face right with the roughness and keeping it feminine, good job!
Looks cool I think if anything I think she needs more color, and I don't nean more saturation, I'll use vader as an example in the begining of ep 4 when he makes his entry VERY similar to what you have going on its mostly monochromatic but the red lightsaber really makes that whole scene and the character look cool, I think some subtle red or some other hue would make this whole thing stand out a lot more.
I'm not a big fan of this entry. She seems like an extra on a on scifi TV show. I can hardly see any suit details in your render. It's got the "when in doubt, black it out" appearance. That or my monitor is broken. But you show your standards of modeling and texturing as usual. I just wish there was more to her, and a little less coffee.
Man, I respect your uncompromised vision Poop. Way to go, I think it looks very realistic and it's awesome you got this done even when you were out of town!
Great stuff, Poop. This last update has made the texture much easier to read, though there are still some parts where all I can make out is the silhouette. The subtle blending of colors in the face is really fantastic.
I can't wait for you to get home and edit/upload the video tutorials.
I did some research on Dreamhost and decided against them. I get 250 gigs a month with bluehost, and it's still not enough. I bought a second account and as soon as I get internet at my new apt I'll be uploading to it so I have mirrors for the videos, which is what eats up all my bandwidth. Over 1,000 visitors a day will eat through your bandwidth, heheh.

Yup, and I'm working on a pair of my own!
Nice work so far, can't wait to see it finished.

The pattern on the uniform is bothering me a little bit, however. Other than that...fantastic!
(EDIT: She is gorgeous and perfect. I have seen the light.) :P
Lots of things I would change if I had more time, but *shrug*

Hope my crits helped... keep on truckin, poop.

Have to mention that's a kickass bg also!
Hope you're enjoying your trip.
I agree on the quilting, I went back and ballanced them a bit, plus made a larger render. So here goes,
Also, here are the beauty renders,
and wires
