This is the sweet spot for your low-poly models. Post 'em if you've got 'em!Low-poly hasn't really been a requirement in the games industry for a long while now. This thread is for low-poly art style appreciation, so please take note of these rough guidelines:
- Keep models under 1,000 triangles.
- Scenes are fine, if all models are low poly.
Some dedicated low-poly modelling tools now exist that make this art style a lot easier to produce;

Neat lil animation thingy, what you end up doing for that sahding? Used a lambert/blinn/etc/etc ? Or did you find out a way to get the shadows in there...
I've been trying to have a 100% lighting + spec hilites + shadows in a model but not too much luck.... Ended up using a ramp shader (maya) & tweaked the crap out of it... dont rememebr what I did exactly, need to re-visit this post later on...
Downside is, you have to render it to get the shadows.... ._. hope that was somewhat of a hint or direction for ya~
Also, can you post your flats?
Uv's should be packed tighter, never been good with that
zenarion - I'd love to turn it into a PSP project :P No experience with the PSP though.
Both of the models are awesome, but I didn't recognize it as a bolt pistol - the design isn't very accurate to the ones my marines are holding, and the big box magazine is very weird.
Check here for craziness.
Thanks It's actually a stormbolter, based on the ones the latest terminator models are carrying.

That makes a lot more sense then I have a bunch of space wolves, but I bought them used and they're ancient and the few termies I do have are the old tiny metal ones and you can barely make out the stormbolters.
So since it's a Storm Bolter and not a bolt pistol, it looks ace
I think it looks really good, SyaPed. Keep rockin'.

im too lazy to skin it myself^^
A mini Darth Vader model I made for a small lowpo contest
i'm new to the forum so this is my first post (wooo :P)
hopefully i can get some crits of this piece, its a low poly character (target approx 300 tri's for a handheld) of a new age wizard for a fantasy theme. hopfully i can get the concepts scanned shortly to show.
any crits at all would be appreciated
Ha, awesome!
but it's not a character!
UV placement for small textures
Pixel art for textures sizes 32x / 64x
Any hints or tips
Examples of work, UV placement etc.
any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers
P.S - i also posted in tech talk but i thought posting ere wouldnt hurt and by the most part its pretty much wat im looking 4 (models/texture wise)
keep it up! great to see some very lowpoly action again!
love it!
though getting it to work in quakeworld, with its finicky skin /player model system, would be a pain, and the drab palette, so maybe not
Use this for your uvs. The bottom part of the image that is.

dur23: That looks very useful! By default though, UV space starts at 0 again after 1. Is there a special name or anything for flipping the UV spaces beyond 0 and 1, as would be necessary for this?

Depends on the sofware. Maya uses mirror U and Mirror V, Xsi uses flip u and v. Not sure what max uses.
I didn't even know that was actually possible.
