This is the sweet spot for your low-poly models. Post 'em if you've got 'em!Low-poly hasn't really been a requirement in the games industry for a long while now. This thread is for low-poly art style appreciation, so please take note of these rough guidelines:
- Keep models under 1,000 triangles.
- Scenes are fine, if all models are low poly.
Some dedicated low-poly modelling tools now exist that make this art style a lot easier to produce;

the mini me is another challenge, not from polycount. Not sure where it's from.

It was a personal challenge, one for myself.
don't mean to be a stickler, but what are considering low poly to be in the low poly section? Sub-1000 now? It was 500...
[/ QUOTE ]
agreed. 500 is the (soft) limit set in the beginning of the thread. As time goes on, so does the cut-off point for lowpoly for some people, but I think we should keep this thread focussed on sub-500 models.
okay i think im done, might pose her later, but want to start something new first.

There is an open sourced game called Frets on Fire that is a guitar hero clone. they have no 3d character models on the playing screen. They could probably use a few models like that.

Just a thought.
A viking, 462 polygons beard, hair and all. For ancient civ game contest over at yoyogames.com. I'm doing a nordic rts kinda thing, lol. The characters will all be custom, different beard and hair styles, different clothes and armor based on what kinds of things the individuals can afford. It will be cool and rather different. Just did this guy in about a half hour.
If anyone does do anything with it, post it up
Here's what the mesh looks like.
and here's the source.

here's my own take... was for the lpc05, but i didn't have time to finish it up by deadline (still working on it, though)...

props haven't been textured yet, obviously
Im ready to begin unwrapping now.
nah, if its a gun, despite being made out of 46 tris - just scale it up waaaay larger (3dsmax's push function) so we can see it.
Thinking about a weaponset - bazooka, sniper, etc. Just a thought. The gun grip is actually ready, il update the post later.
uk_resistant, love the shapes on that. Nice wires, too.
actually unwrapped and started texturing this spy but wasn't happy so went back and added slightly different detail.
Also took tris out the gun which i felt weren't needed.
(sorry guys, spy is little over 500 tris!)
Anyways nice work Scoobs, really dig the texture, not too sure about the camera strap tho, could have been done with 1 segemnt on each side and other painted on. If it is meant to be taken off then you could have done so the straps go under the jacket. But now im nitpicking.
But what he really needs is a pose.
(i know im being pedantic!)is a bit off - like he's leaning off into the wind or something...apart from that ace work.
Started another one. 500tris on the dot, 128x128 texture.
quick update before i sleep:
Mantis is coming along real nice, partic like the silouette of the legs.
just the boots left, i think... added a quick'n'dirty spec map as well
old turnaround
3-point-lit shot
spec map was for fun, really, and purely because it looks sexy with it Besides, it's a real quick one (hue+180, levels, tweakage for the skin and eyepiece), so it's added sexiness for minimal effort.
He's mostly rigged now, just need a nice pose, and I think I'll do a simple base with floaty things around him.
Anyhow, first I'm going with the main character from Bullet Witch. Knocked out the body last night, I'm pretty happy with the shapes so far, but I'd love to hear any feedback/crit from you guys regarding technical issues such as the skirt or joints.
At about 396 polys right now.
You guys make the people who worked in Playstation games look bad.
Don't worry about these kinds of statements from me, it's my demoscener spirit coming through.
My point was mainly saying we shouldn't jump straight to next-gen if there is still so much to master in the previous gen.

Games for arts sake!? If only!!!!
I think it's a good point. They should release some sort of development kit when an old system becomes redundant. I think it would be great if games followed the music industries DIY ethic.
449tris at the moment. Need to add the head (and that crazy hair) before optimising. Hoping to get her finished over the weekend.
That's for source images. Day officially brightened.
Glad i gave people a laugh tho
better to be safe then sorry isnt it?not an issue of trust, just precaution.

You usually don't need that kind of thing on PC, it's a more laid back atmosphere.
Unless, of course, you do something anyone finds mildly amusing, like watermark an image. In that case, sharks.
edit:
hyperboleing it the only thing i can do really good^^
