Hey guys,
Here is another lunch time project I've been working on. I figured I would share my process this time and maybe get a few pointers along the way. The images should be self-explanatory. But I photo-bashed another artists work to make a slightly different design, and then added all my own bells and whistles. The highpoly is mostly done at this point, but as the title says I'm gonna make a video game character, get him animated and marmoset viewer for everyone to see. Thanks for looking, open to crits!
Edit///. This was done 100% in zbrush, that was part of the challenge I made for myself here. But moving forward, I'll retopo in Maya, and texture in substance painter.

Got a pretty long list of things to do still, but here is where I am at now. I guess some subtle changes but put a lot more love into the skin and tightening some other bits up.
Mostly wrapped up the face, I added some geo for the watery eye effect around the eye lids. Also did some hand painting for color variation. These are all with just the 1 environment cubemap light. It should come to life more later on with a proper lighting scenario (down the road). Anyway, enough excuses, here is the finalish, face...
Oh and that red button on the side of the helmet, thats what activates his visor (puts it up) Still planning on having this guy do some fun animations like activating that and shooting some rounds off.

But it wouldn't be difficult to do a few renders in that style too, so maybe I will since you asked.
Added some more color variation, bump, and gradients to the skin areas.
Gonna move on to wrapping up the armor, then a last pass on the gun.
After that, I'm gonna make a pedestal, and work on lighting.
I should note, the weird chunky wear is intentional. Trying to go for an exaggerated stylized wear. Hope you guys like it!
You can probably barley notice but there is a shot gun shell I'll animate flying off when the rounds go in the final animation as well. I'm gonna just leave it static till I get him moving around in marmoset.
Really the main thing I'm focusing on is making sure this all works in the Marmoset viewer.
*Edit this is a gif of marmoset viewer in action. I would just embed the file for viewing now, but I guess thats not possible just yet.
Put a little more love into the fx. Some Bullet shells flying, tweaked geo for the muzzle flash, and animated scaling and dithering. Getting closer...
Here is a test beauty render. I still need him posed with gun, but I wanted to get a better idea what he might look like with some composite passes.
Anyway nice one!!
See the Marmoset Viewer and all the breakdowns on my artstation!
