Is anyone else having problems uploading images to Polycount? I have tried many times now and it just is not happening. I am doing it correctly, because I have done it many times before.
Again! a progress before the end of my weekend *sob*
Hey man, nice progress but these updates probably belong in your progress thread and not in here. Maybe post in the WAYWO thread with a link to your wip thread instead.
Awe, Sorry. it's my first time joining the comp here. I'll make my own thread like you suggest!
Could you elaborate more on this for me please? does this mean 1 or 2 images showing all of the textures used, for the example given 1x4096= 4x2048 I would put all 4 on one image to show? Or am I way off thinking that?

Thanks.
That means you can choose 1 or 2 of your textures to display on your submission post. If you used 4x2k materials, you could post 1 or 2 of these as texture sheets. Hope it clears it up
That I could see, it doesn't say whether it has to be a full figure or not? Is a torso OK? obviously I'd get 100k tri's just for the torso, which would allow for some uber detail in the face...plus, having left it this late, I might still stand a chance of getting something in
I don't know. Probably is not fair if we think that there are people that dedicate every minutes of their free time to match the deadline. The ability to respect the deadline is something that as to be take in consideration during the evaluation.
I agree, Nazedo. While I wouldn't fuss if there was an extension, I do think, on principle, folks should realize that the deadline was the name of the game.
We had two and a half months to find time. Some folks really tolled hard in their free time to meet that set deadline. It's not really their problem if others didn't or couldn't.
I feel that while an extension wouldn't erase the work done by those who met the deadline, if anyone of those folks were to be beaten by someone who benefited from the extension, it'd feel kind of wrong.
I think that extension of only one week can drastically improve the quality of the overall contest. Most of the people are quite efficient in ideas and technical skill, but not so in time management.
So many of the folks realize time frame only when a deadline becomes tight... Then comes frustration, and where is frustration, there is hurry. Where is hurry there is a mess.
I think it is a good idea because the quality and quantity will be more competitive for sure... In my case, i will finish on time, but in the extended option, i will a have time to improve some small details which could improve the work. That is the case for others too...

Yes, but that's the whole challenge: Can you get it done with a time constraint?
The purpose of a deadline is to challenge how well one has learned (or will learn) time management--how well they used the time to deliver a good result.
If someone couldn't figure out how to manage their free time well with a deadline that's two-and-a-half months long, why should they be rewarded with extra time?
If someone's meeting the tightness of the deadline, and meets frustration, and are hurrying, that's all part of the learning experience. Maybe they'll plan better next time, or adapt to pressure.
I know the spirit here is fun in seeing the best results people can create, but it's still a competition, with some serious work invested and serious prizes on the line.
On principle, I'd hope they keep the original deadline, and let people's chips fall where they may. The deadline was already generous enough.

Yeah, same here. I'm exhausted.
