I'm trying to enter this contest but I have no idea how to active or get my account activated so I can enter. This will be the 3rd quick post I've tried to do so that I can get my account taken care of to allow me to create my entry thread.
that quick post activated my account. so if any new artist is also trying to enter this contest. just try a quick post on your new account to this forum.

But please write something proper and not just "Oh yeah!", "It's great." Comment on one of the others threads would be a good thing.
Why aren't the answers marked as blue color ? I had to spend lots of time going through all the posts reading everything and finally found one answer xD
Anyway my question is:
Is there any restriction for the usage of any culture in real life or we have to make our own specifically ?
Should we really use Substance Designer for making the textures, is it really necessary or not ?
And I don't know if this is still answered or not, but to be sure I'll ask again:
Are we allowed to do outdoors environment or it needs to be an inside room specifically ?
And if outside is ok, are there any restrictions we should keep in mind ?
Attempting to post my project but cannot because of administrative rights. This would be my first time posting anything. Do I need to have a post approved before submitting to that particular thread?
What real time engines are out there that support PBR shaders? I know Marmoset, UE4, and Unity Pro. Is Substance considered a real time engine? Are there others? What does the contest prefer?
Hi, I do use Unity game engine. Would it be okay if we do provide a web player version of our real time environment as part of the progress at our thread?
I'm saying since somehow all of this designs are intended to be looked at in real-time? Like maybe I have an amazing scenery and it just happens I made a poor choice for the screenshot but the actual work looks / feel better in real-time? Or sometimes some persons just like some camera angles better than others in a somewhat subjective way... so the stage can be fully admired on its true nature, its full beauty / real time render capacity?
Even if its not strictly used as a 'judgement tool' but just to provide as something 'in addition to' the actual requirements of the challenge?
If we are allowed to do it, can we add adequate sound / background music to help sell the architectural environment and design while at it - all original and/or owned stuff of course?
quick question, Can I get a new team mate after the one that I have leaves? Anything in particular that I need to do in order to get it official or should I just make a note of it in my thread?
Question: I make a throne room in XIX century european-style. Can I use existing classic paintings (for example: Rembrandt's portraits) to decorate the walls?
One of the project idea's myself and a friend had was a make-shift throne using a gang of macaque monkeys, would having them in a scene be breaking competition rules?

Animals should be limited to small environment additions such as birds in the sky, butterflies, but should not be a central part of the design. You may be able to keep a similar ideas but with monkey statues, maybe hint at the presence of the monkeys without actually have live animals everywhere.
Stone characters are considered statues and are fine.
We will think about a deadline extension when we get closer to the deadline if too many people are still not finished.
submission questions.
I tried a search with no results thus I am submitting here.
what is the format for submission? Jpgs? ect? Am I correct in understanding you have to render from a game engine? if so Thus the image layout format must be horizontal? and thus the image must not have any Photoshop enhancement?

Posted in this thread above, they state you can also take a screenshot of an OpenGL viewport of your application you work in, as well.
The submission will include:
3 beauty shots of the final environment taken from the real time engine of your choice.
A construction shot of the throne itself, showing the high poly mesh, low poly mesh with wireframe and texture sheets, as well as a concept drawing or reference sample if applicable.
Does this mean the final submission post in the submissions thread is limited to 4 images? Can we do more or do additional images need to be in the WIP thread?
I have one major question I'm currently developing a fighting game and we are looking to create a throne room for our main environment. If I start now and only use assets I create from this date forward. ( I know it's not to much time) can I still participate. It will only be me and not my team, as long as we stick to the rest of the guidelines.
Can anybody recommend a good image hosting site for when it comes to submitting the final pictures? I'm on Photobucket at the moment but it compresses the heck outta my pictures

As long as the scene remains globally the same, yes.

In our concept the throne floats/hovers within a space and isnt actually in a room. Is this acceptable or do we need to have it in the boat?

Are we allowed to use our throne submission for another project in the future? Say for example we later decide to use it for an animation short.
@TomGT Sure, your artwork remains yours entirely.
@BossoB I think you need to have at least 3 posts on Polycount to be able to post your own thread.
Edit: Oh, just had to make a post. Yea...

Wait, I thought everything for this challenge had to be created from scratch? Where is the line drawn?
I imagine those would be considered statues ... they help tell an environmental story. I think ...

I've started as solo contestant, can I add a person and participate as team ? and if so, do I have to start new thread or I can just mention it ?
Thanks
You just have to mention it, as far as I recall.
I was reading the submission Rules
Does this mean the final submission post in the submissions thread is limited to 4 images? Can we do more or do additional images need to be in the WIP thread?
Is this acceptable as it is, or will I need to art those up so they aren't recognizable?
@Coontang: Yes, the final submission post is only 4 screenshots but you can post as many others as you want in the wip thread.
W@arrenM: acceptable.
@bigrey78: Scary is fine
sorry if this has already been asked!
I'm also wondering this seems like a lot of people are either far from finished or just holding out til the last minute to submit!
