2014 has been a huge year for Polycount and the Polycount Community but that doesn't mean we're finished just yet.
We're days away from launching the biggest contest we've ever done. And we don't just mean "big". We mean "really f*cking big!"
The biggest contest ever with the most categories for entering we've ever done.
The biggest prizes we've ever been able to offer to the community.
And we've teamed up with the developer of arguably the worlds biggest video game.
It's big. Wait...
...it's massive. And we hope you're ready.
I really can't wait!
What is this massive studio?
I as some others are guessing it's Blizzard but Blizzardfest is already is a thing who else could it be?
Replies
Minecraft/Mojang? No.
Blizzard? Probably not... But could be awesome.
Valve? Likely.
EA? Please no.
Riot? Possible, but I'd except Dota > LoL
This! Let this be true!
yes i say the division too
...that has been cancelled
Kinda like the free games every month (Dragon Age started yesterday).
ANYWAY
Hence the frowny face. :poly122:
Polycount is becoming an official games studio and the first place prize is a job, calling it now!
Hey Smash Bros is coming out soon, I'm totally on that hype train
Oh sweet Jesus, don't kill me.
Besides that, ya, could definitely be riot.
So many possibilities!
First prize: free hats (optionally a job at valve)
If Riot: Community skins for LoL
If Valve: Another Dota contest?(highly unlikely)
If Blizzard: Assets for WoW expansion/Community skins for Heroes of the Storm
or…..
the long awaited Penis Tank Contest?
Since it mentions having the most categories in a PC contest ever I doubt it would just be skins for X game.
At the very least I think we would see:
Character
Environment (I hope)
Then maybe Vehicle, Weapon, Animation...
- Epic Contest: Coincides with UE4 marketplace opening up recently. Also, Massive = Epic.
- Bethesda/ID Software: History of modding (Elder scrolls, Fallout, Quake, Doom, etc.)
- Nintendo: Outside chance, but hey, sometimes you gotta give the ridiculous a shot.
Bring it on !
In all seriousness, my bet is on Ubisoft Massive. Massive Entertainment has been owned by both Ubisoft and Activision, makers of arguably the worlds biggest game CoD, and they have themselves made arguably the worlds biggest game World in Conflict (because pun.)
And I feel that the Division would be a great game for a competition with lots of variety. Of course we can make 2d or 3d versions of characters/weapons/props/environments. But something that has MMORPG elements and takes the RPG bit seriously also has room for stuff that isn't regular artwork; an NPC with lore and personality, or a raid/quest, or other more design-oriented things.
think it will be Ue4/Epic related.Maybe make Something Unreal/game contest.from concept to blueprints to assets to everything that can be showcased on the marketplace.Just a guess
I dunno man, I just installed Elder Scrolls Online, and it was leik 60gb!
Or are we talking "big" as in "world wide success?"
Or "biggest game" as in, they are headlining the competition, so we have to write that.
I second this, UE4 marketplace content would allow any category and would cover everything polycounters do too, so no one would be left out. If it's not the contest, I do hope they have one eventually one day.
Also.... SWAT 5 ENVIRONMENTSSSSSSSSS
I was counting on someone saying this.
I was counting on it.
I would cry tears of joy with even the hint of an animation category.
*fingers crossed*
Excited to see what gets put out there.
Lets hope!!
Then again, there are a few other games out there that can also be it. Maybe COD, WOW, or maybe... Just maybe... Half-life 3!
it was weird, and I felt really left out for some reason.
