Hi, I am building a scene and was wondering if something were possible, turns out it actually is and it's commonly used in environment modelling. I saw something similar before on youtube however the guy demonstrated it with only 1 UV. Here it is:
In case you 're wondering what it is really quickly, it's basically a tutorial from a company that explains how to texture assets quickly with seamless texture then apply different passes with seperate UV's. For example a normal map pass would have it's own channel as well as glossmap, ao etc... In case of some of you wondering how this is useful, all I can say is that it immensely speeds up your workflow when you 're modelling multiple meshes but do not want to commit to hipoly modelling and use stencils instead. Trick is, however you avoid adding normal stencils in an image editing program or painter altogether by making a normal map atlas. You could basically then create new UV's and move them to matching stencils and in the end baking it all down to a single UV so it all fits nicely inside one UV. Might not be much of a trick but comes in handy when you have multiple meshes and instead of texturing them one by one you could just move around UV's to match the stencils and bake instead of individually texturing. Just another workflow for anyone interested.
