I'll be buying my ticket this month probably (san fran -> seattle doesn't take much planning) Chances are Ill be in a day before, and come back day after its over, oh that work grind.
I'm there 17 - 22nd like a lot of people. I'd also recommend booking asap as prices are always going up, looking forward to catching up and having a few beers with people.
Do we know who's responsible for the whole workshop shebang? I'd really like to send an email and ask if it's worth it hanging around for 1-2 days after the event.
And for you who wrote 17th-22nd, and are you guys leaving on the 22nd or is the 22nd the last day you spend in Seattle.
I'm flying out in the afternoon of the 22nd. As far as I know there hasn't been any new information about the Workshop involvement at the international. There was mention of a signup sheet during the FAQ but since then not too much.
I would say you could expect more information soom though. Last year the Compendium came out about a week before the qualifiers started. If they do the same this year it should be out this week before the NA qualifiers start.
Going to be there 16th till 23rd then (arriving on the 16th, leaving on the 23rd)
Also, anybody wanna share a room? I found one for 140Euro/night so would be 70Euro/night shared. 1 room, 2 beds, from the 16th till the 23rd. 15min walking distance from Key Arena. I'd probably be willing to pay the night of 16th-to-17th and/or 22nd-to-23rd by myself if there's nobody else for exactly the same time frame. All the other hotels I've found are way more expensive.
I'm arriving in Seattle 10:30 am on the 17th - staying until the 22nd (flight leaves at 11:30 am).
So - whatever is going to happen, has to happen within those days!!
From Valve:"Q. Im a Workshop Contributor, will there be a place for me at the International?
This year well be setting aside a larger space for Contributors to meet fans, work together, and show off their creations. If youre interested in participating, well have a signup space for you soon. In the meantime, make sure you purchase your ticket when they go on sale on Friday"
- Anyone have information from this? Because I don't find more information... it's always "soon" (or "dead"?).
- What we can do for get a space?
- Buy a ticket from Ebay now, because no more from Valve, or wait?
If anyone wants to, I think a really cute way of handing out your work would be to get some little buttons made up.
I found a place called http://wackybuttons.com/ which does 500 for $90USD with overnight shipping.
I was thinking buttons would be better than printing out posters and signing them. Buttons could be pinned on your lanyard and stuff. Collect em all kinda deal.
I'm gonna get 500 made up and sent to the hotel in seattle I'll be staying at. Just thought I'd share the idea
I wonder if TI5 will also be in US. Most likely, however it would be good to know to apply for Visa with advance next year. I even didn't started my application because when I saw "waiting time" it would be already to late even if I would get one eventually ^^'

I'm staying in an apartment I found on airbnb which is like a 3 minute walk from the event.
If anyone hasn't booked their hotels yet I'd do so ASAP since the cheaper rooms are disappearing fast.
