@praetus - really well done. I like how all the elements read well. How are you guys creating the turntable on youtube? I saw it with the recent Natures Prophet entry as well. Excellent work.

I did mine using Marmoset 2. I can do a quick breakdown of it later today if anyone is interested
@Tamarin Yea, I use Marmoset 2. I render out about 13 seconds of turntable as .png files where I can compile them in windows movie maker. Since the movie maker transitions are kind of terrible to get working, I uploaded all three of my videos to youtube and made them private. Youtube has a built in movie editor where I can string them together and add transitions. it's all pretty quick and painless.

This item during the game looks incredibly beautiful and gives the ability to feel the power of the sea monster - Kraken. I have always been impressed by this creature, which kills ships. These emotions have helped me to create this item the way you see it now.
Privileges:
Lighting Effects.
For all types of heroes.
3 sizes: 4:3 / 16:9 / 16:10
Custom Stash inventory.
Custom Day/Night.

Not much progress today. I did get the low poly slingshot started, and sculpted a bit more on the hammer. I don't know if i should try to match existing textures or do something a bit different.
Is it a bad idea to add a beard to characters? I mean will valve have to animate the beard to work with character speech animations? Is there a way that I can do this myself? I can view all of the "shape keys" in Blender when I import an FBX but if I created my own shape keys, how would I go about getting them into the game?
@Andyk125 The existing feathers are dark in the center and lighter at the tips. What would that look like if you did the same?
I tried the beard with no animation and it looks okay. Here is the current WIP. Better turn your speakers down. First time playing around with the video editor. It would be great if I could animate him hammering in synch with the music.

I can't even remember the last time I did something for a contest, maybe it's time I give it a try again.
I started working on the lowpoly model today and mapped the concept artwork on it for a quick test:
I didn't work on highpoly or any of the textures yet. The concept for the item was done by Christian ( http://christianschob.com ).
Another update on my naix head, I made the metals bigger and played with the fabric a bit so it can fit to new big metal, then made some high poly for the metals and baked them merged them, made a map with base texture and duplicated the metals, and almost forgot to mention I baked a gradient map but I am not sure if right or wrong. I am triying to finish it before month ends but I dont know if I can because I works slowly and rarely. Anyways here take a look and leave some feedback
Here very little work on the metal textures. Pls leave some feedback.
In my opinion u should go back to sculpting
The cloth and the scratches aren't well sculpted
I sent u this already, did u watch it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6IKYPrHDz0
don't worry about the edges of the cloth (don't keep them straight), in low poly u can use the alpha channel of color map to make transparent areas (take a look at treant protector's back model, the leaves are only rectangles with custom alphas)
and for the metal parts, maybe take a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFlwra5LVW8
but don't make small scratches that can't be seen from the game view
Reza: I watched the video and used it exactly it said. I hope I can have enough time to go bacl to high poly but I dont think I will because 1 weekend remaining and still need to do a lot of things.

I agree with Reza on this. I'm not really getting a sense of the fabric being pulled and stretched from it's attachment points, based on the sculpt you've made. It is probably worth your time to revisit that.
Also with your metal piercings... what metal are you thinking they are? Iron? Steel? That makes a big difference in how it reacts to bumps and scratches. Try looking at some real-world reference of the type of metal you're trying to make. As they are now, the scratches are very uniform, and just kind of look like holes at this point.
@cagdasx44: You have to ask yourself, whats more important: Finishing an item and making it the best it can be? Or rushing just to submit it to the monthly contest?
Polaris and Reza gave you some great feedback which you should apply. Does it really matter if you don't submit it in time for the contest? At this point with your skill level you should be focusing on improving and doing whatever it takes to do so and not be burdening yourself with deadlines.
@cagdasx44 You've got a whole week! You can totally do it!
I can do that in a week for sure but I have exams that will continue whole week so I will only be able to work friday, saturday and sunday. I stil need masks, promo (which I suck at) and as you said high poly, and because of going back on high poly I need new bakes and textures.
And a question: I splited my models into parts in zbrush to work easy but when I tried to export it zbrush only exported the one part, and I exported and baked all of them then merged the bakes like and idiot. İs there a way to merge parts in zbrush?
I'm almost done with the totem, i have done all the textures and i'm currently just polishing it before release. I was thinking about making it so that it has 2 styles, one with the handle and one without, but i'm not quite sure how to publish two different models in one submission. does it say how anywhere in the workshop? iv'e been looking but never found anything.
Finished my item for this months contest!
Was trying to also get an item in for lifestealer, but I'm affraid I won't be able to finish it.
None the less if u like it please vote!
I think that the mustache is too thick on him. Trim it down!
Thanks GhostDetector. I wasn't really happy with the headpiece so I've taken it back into Sculptris today. I'm not sure if I am pushing the vertex/texture limit, but hopefully I can get this in low res. The helmet fits better with the hammer and anvil piece now.
The moustache is trimmed down.
@cagdasx44 - I was seeing definite improvement over the last couple of weeks. You should try and see it to the end. If not, I'll hope to see you in the April monthly competition.
Had to cut off the beard as i couldn't find a solution to make it animate with his mouth when he talked, worked great otherwise, but oh well on to another set. Happy with how this turned out for a relatively quick turnaround. I really like playing elder lately as well.

That is a great suggestion
the main focus of the contest is to help people to improve, dont let it make your quality lower =]
Take your time and do your best! next month you organize better your time to finish before the deadline
yeah I like the idea of least represented, we almost did it last month but then we had an influx of new heroes available. I also like Reyne's idea of a particular material type or types.

I opened steam this morning and that was the first thing I saw, linked with workshop. Very nice work, good job!
I'm easily within the poly budget, is it possible to add my own particles to it?

the basic idea is to somehow represent the damage done to her as mentioned in her bio, along with a phantom-limb style representation of her wings
if anyone has any suggestions that'd be great - particularly whether it'd be worth taking it to the next stage (modelling/baking etc.)
cheers!
*edit* apologies if this has already been done - not had time to check through the workshop/forums to see who's been doing what lately!
