Feeling indifferent... A lot of people initially didn't like the casting of Ledger, so I'll give Affleck the benefit of the doubt. Wish it was Bale though, I think WB missed a golden opportunity there.
They offered him a lot of money as I remember, but he turned down the role. Good thing too because he's honestly a very good actor and should do some more unique roles. Also he needs another film where he's starving so he can go back on his yoyo-diet rollercoaster.
it depends on the comic, and the writer though. for quite a few years now Kryptonite has had a severely reduced effect on superman, and there are examples of it having no effect at all on some versions of superman (there are multiple universes).
Kryptonites effects generally don't instantly reduce supermans power anymore either, it's more of a gradual thing. if he were moving at light speed (which he can in ALL universes), he could just move THROUGH whoever has the kryptonite before he even felt its effects.
this is what would happen if superman and batman were to ever have a scuffle:
well, he's faster than light, virtually indestructible, doesn't need to breathe or eat, can turn back time as well as having x-ray and heat vision. He's basically every other super hero ever rolled into one and that's why I've never been a superman fan.
He should just go back in time and kick Lex Luthor's dad in the nads - problem solved.
The problem with Affleck is that he suffers the same stigma as Ryan Reynolds or Keanu Reeves, people snap judge him based on bad characters he played fifteen years ago. When the writing's good, he's great. But when the writing's bad, his acting gets blamed.
Would Bale play another Batman? In the last movie he looked like he was having trouble breathing in the suit.
I can imagine it will be in the he same vein as Bats vs SM in 'Dark Knight Returns' (excellent graphical novel and one of the better if not the best DC animation movie adaptation).
Frank Miller is so in love with batman that he could never lose to anyone as long as he was writing the fight.
that's one side of the problem, writers bias will almost always dictate that batman will beat superman because it's the "more interesting" outcome. but lets be serious here for a second, batman vs superman...
batman. a genius with lots of money and some gadgets.
superman. a literal god.
there can really only be one outcome to that encounter.
Your forgetting that Superman lives by a code...Truth, Justice, and the American way. If Batman were British, he would have no problem disposing of him, but since Bruce is an American- and a damn fine capitalist- he accepts bribes from him instead of murdering him.
It'll be interesting to see how they approach this...I like both characters but I feel like they are not going to cover any new ground that will be exciting to watch in a movie...I predict some kind of Kryptonite powered powersuit, and then a partnership born out of a common threat- where superman does all the work.
I really am not excited about this choice, but then again, everyone raged about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, then everyone ended up liking her performance. Same with Heath Ledger (as already mentioned above). Internet/comicbook geek rage isn't going to change anything.
The thing that confuses me is, I thought this was suppose to be 'old' batman, which I already thought was confusing, because I thought they both existed at reasonably the same age. Then again, most of the stuff now, is just rumors, until confirmed by the studio
Snyder has yet to do a bad film in my eyes. he has crushed everything he does, so there is no reason to doubt him on this choice of ben being batman. Everyone haaated the idea of heath ledger being joker, yet he turned out to be the best character in all batman movies..ever.. And there is NO WAY zach would have giving ben the job without significant tests. Seeing him in the suit. hearing his voice. all that sort of shit.

Yeah, but Nolan was helming those Batman movies. He has an excellent casting director, and also a fantastic character director, he tends to bring out the best performances in everyone. I can't say the same for Snyder.
That said I do agree with your point, I think this geek rage is ridiculous, I think this could turn out well.
Say what? He's yet to do a good film. I enjoyed Watchmen, but it wasn't exactly stellar. His only film to be reviewed positively is the Dawn of the Dead remake, everything else was a critical failure.
Heck, the guy was responsible for Sucker Punch, which I personally hold to be one of the worst directed films I've ever seen.
I'm honestly not too sure why Snyder has gotten so much hate from critics. He's a great action director at least in my opinion. I've enjoyed all of his movies.
I liked Sucker Punch. Not much for a plot but there are some pretty cool scenes.

Same. Loved 300, liked Sucker Punch, liked Watchmen .. don't get the hate.

You forgot Man of Steel, which was not only a great Superman film, but made bank. He's golden in Hollywood's eyes at this point.
I'm not sure I'm going to like Ben Affleck trying to do a hardened old batman... I don't necessarily dislike his acting, but his voice isn't very threatening and he always has that smug smirk on his face. I just don't see it.
That's a great way of putting it. I don't think its a bad thing.
i do... i think his films would be ALOT better if he spent a bit more time on script, plot structure, and core ideas. otherwise his films will always be fluff. he often generates a really nice visual feel to his films that is then ruined by a crap plot, or whimsical script.
I was thinking a bit, and thought, why not Javier Bardem as Batman? Hell, with his profile he barely needs a mask, plus he's a great actor. And he's Latino so he can be El Hombre MURCIELGO! :P
Snyder = 50% metacritic, 75% user critic on average. I tend to follow more user feedback anyways. Ledger seemed like a great joker to me. But the again, Nolan was at the helm. Nolan would make Affleck work. Snyder? I dunno.
Here's what you count on with Snyder on average
State of the art Beautiful FX
Style
However what you generally can't count on is
Substance
Story
Pacing
Punch
That's just not him. Not his style. His movies are more background noise while you work rather than an engaging experience. Like watching TNG while you create art.
Excepting that truth kinda helps me enjoy his films more.

You're kidding right? The guy needs acting lessons like Charlie Sheen needs rehab.
Apparently when asked to do the movie, he replied "Argo on then."
HAH!
Affleck has the comic book look of Bruce, so that's a plus i suppose...
outside of that, the movie has bigger issues. having batman exist in the same universe as this version of superman? fine, no problem.
having batman being able to contend in any meaningful way with superman or anyone even close to his power levels... yeah, no.
i mean, how do you think batman would have coped if Zod and co. had arrived, but Kal-El handn't?
batman = smart
superman = insurance companies nightmare

GO KRYPTONITE DILDO

Zack snyder makes bad movies.
(quickly jumps out window)
I`m going to trust Zach till he lets me down.

Neither does Batman. Remember, he successfully masquerades as a privileged billionaire playboy throughout the day.

Man of Steel wasn't great either IMHO, (and was also panned by critics, funnily enough).
You know what. I would be totally ok with this. All of the crime movies he's directed have been amazing.
This.

Well, he can certainly cook up some kryptonite.
I legitimately would rather see Affleck direct this.

2nd on Javier Bardem but only if it's a movie adaptation of Batman Year 100
oh shit, DAT MOVIE. i LOVE the prestige. it's one of the few films i could happily watch more than once a year.
