I see you've been putting in some work and not getting any criticism and I thought I would give my ideas on it since you've put some good work into it. I'm really liking the detail on the skeletal head of the first creature and would say that is the best part of all 3. Also, try broadening the shoulders of some of the characters and see if that looks a bit more anatomically correct.:) Best of luck!
So I did a quick illustration today. Trying to get better at getting the pictures in my head, out on something that others can see. But fast. Not a nice combo. But heres todays work:
Your work is getting there and there's clearly potential, however I think you need to revisit some of the fundamentals, like perspective for your environment scenes, and anatomy for your characters, as both of these seem to be slightly off. I'd recommend George B Bridgman for anatomy, but you can't go wrong with most anatomy books/reference for artists. You could also try the Gnomon "fundamentals of perspective" series of dvds. By building up your knowledge base of such things, you'll see a huge difference to your artwork.
Ultimately the best thing you can do is to keep drawing/painting, so keep at it!
Thanks for the comment @Neoncypher, a great advices too. Going to check out both of them. I do agree with you on both of that as well. Considering that I have never really studied either perspective or anatomy, it sounds like a solid plan. Thanks again ^^
Keep it going.. Try to be more confident about your stroke. It helps your hand to eye coordination to just draw fewer lines per shape.
You'll get a feel for after times and repetition.. Just look for Jessica Dinh's sketchbook and anatomy studies, she's awesome at getting the curves right with only a few strokes.
So I did a practice on perspective and composition. A jet plane taking of. Worth mentioning is that this is the first time I used a texture in my paintings.
I did 3 robo samurais today, along some other stuff but they aren't done and I am too afraid to upload them =3
But tell me which one ya like the most, I will use the one which gets best response for an indie game I will start with some friends in the upcoming weeks.
So I have watched some FZD school stuff recently by Feng Zhu on youtube. I will say here that I owe those tutorials alot, brilliant they are. Here is a piece I drew this morning, took me about 2 and a half hour.
Pretty inspiring seeing how much your work's improving! I really like the concept of the stone flamingos and the atmosphere of the last one with the deer.
@ErikNilsson Thanks man . Yea that one is a result of practice and usage of what i have seen on some good tutorials. And your stuff is great man, you keep it up as well!
@deagloria Thanks alot I got the idea of the stone flamingos from a dream, oddly enough o.O. And thanks for noticing my improvements, it feels good.
Here is this mornings work, will do an environment today as well, but a character for now.
This picture I worked on mostly yesterday, but I finished it this morning. With this piece I tried new rendering techniques, and I also practiced more on perspective and depth.
@AllyAlbon Thanks for your kind words, and agreed, practice makes perfect
I've been sick these past days, but now I am back in action! So here is a creature concept, enjoy.
And regarding my change of signature, my name is Karl Victor Petersson. And I haven't been able to decide on which name I would use for signing. But now I have, so from now on I will sign my stuff with Karl, just for your information.
@3dju Thanks mate, even I am noticing the progress, it feels good. Studying perspective and value is gold!
Today I did a portrait from a random portrait picture from google. This is the first time I eyeballed the values and pretty much everything. So this is the first time I freehand a portrait. Therefore, nothing fancy, just a practice piece.
