repete, i know what you mean, but this is what we need, it "createsjobs" for you and me. And overall some people that worked on this are sure to be posting on PC.
Just saying
It creates a vacuum after it has been used to oblivion. There are so many problems facing this planet right here right now and in the not too distant future that we could honestly have a triple A game released every 6 months for the next 50 years. That would capture the imaginations of the future generations (might even make them stop and think). I know people need jobs but this industry has proven it's salt in letting people go (expendable talent due to restructuring=bollocks), maybe a reboot is in order and to quit the bloody sequels and please can we have automatic uv & normal maps :poly136: yes combined and in that order.
Actually your point is hazy, it's like reading a fever dream put into words but I think I get the gist of your argument and I disagree with it. I love Wolfenstein 3D and would love to work on a reinterpretation of the franchise and it sounds like the developers at Machinegames love it too, it's not wasted talent.
In a way I'm glad about that as it means they can really focus on the SP. But then I never played enemy territory so I seem to have missed out on something special going by what EVERYONE says about it.
Yikes,i am aware that wolfenstein always had that line where it featured a advanced robots, crazy experiments and stuff, but while watching these gameplay clips,i keep geeting the impression like the game is set in 2020,2030,rather than 1960.
Could be because of its internal level showed, would need to see an external one before making the final judgement.
Also, that dual wielding feels awfull for a wolfenstein game,to me at least
Super Happy Cow: That was in a period where there weren't very many multiplayer games. Now you have a huge selection of multiplayer-only games, so unless this would draw a huge, sustainable crowd, it's just a waste of money and detracts from the single-player experience.
Enemy Territory still exists and is still free. I think more than any other game, Quake 4 showed that there was no need to recreate the same multiplayer with diminishing returns on popularity, and I can only see this as being a smart decision on the developers part.
Ofcourse, it's working for Call of Duty, but as a developer it's foolish to count on that kind of succes; what's a much more likely outcome is that your community will be dead in the water within months aside from a select few devotees.
Not to mention the free to play market having embraced shooters in a big way. You'd be competing with all of those, as well! Hawken, Team Fortress 2, Heroes & Generals, Tribes:Ascend...
At first I thought it would just be another boring rehash, but now that I saw that E3 trailer, I'm impressed with the setting. I'll happily go back to shooting Nazis in the dark future where they won.
Hmm, the one thing that really stands out for me are the character faces. The shading looks so dead and plasticy. The facial animations aren't helping either

Most of it looks great but yeah I see that too and generally the animations look a bit stiff. Maybe the gameplay will make up for it, story has never been a very strong reason for me to play any of the wolfenstien games so far anyway.
I like what I see! Love the style of the 60's vibe. It's like wolfenstein in a twisted version of Mad Men. And some of the weapons looked like a blast!
Yeah, the game is pretty amazing to say the least. I love the fact that it's actually "believable" and what you'd think futuristic Nazi's would look like. The story is great, the voice acting is great, everything about this game is great. Do not rent this, buy it, it's well worth it.
You need to sprintjump like it says (think its shift by default on PC)
yea i eventually figured it out that you have to let go of sprint(shift) right before you jump and when jumping you sprint again. so shift+w and let go of shift, then shift+space.
anyways, playing through the game and couple things that stuck out art wise were the eyes seems too big on most characters except the main character. also lot of the environment and props felt like they went through same ddo preset. was ddo used extensively in this game ?
So put a few hours into the campaign last night, and I'm loving it. The gunplay is satisfying and tight, and I'm really loving the overall world and mood they've established. It's certainly not breaking the mold as a FPS, but it really nails everything that I want in a game like this.
Really has a Goldeneye feel to it actually. Like a lot of the reviews have said, they really found the sweet spot between an older school FPS and more modern storytelling.
And kudos to the artists that worked on this. Hope to see an art dump soon.
I hate this game... because it showed me that my PSU was dying and now I have a weekend where I can't play the game. The wait for a new PSU is going to be a pain, I loved the little I actually got to play, and the good old style of health. And the level layout feels more fun.
The game was a blast to play, the story was over the top, the guns were over the top, the enemies were over the top, and everything else was over the top. There were some annoying parts that I got fed up with but overall a very fun game with a great mix of that old school FPS gameplay.
My biggest critique would be to yell at the person who over sharpened those textures and make them butt ugly lol.
Welp, this is the game that did it.
My poor 7 year old PC has finally met it's match. I might just put the game on hold till I get an upgrade going, doesn't help that my ATI card runs OpenGL terribly.
What I did play was awesome though, but I guess the waiting list of brand new games starts now :P
Agreed Mats, had to pump up the speakers loud while playing! Not to mention the art is fantastic. Nice to see a new shooter shaking off the FPS cobwebs

the modeling is good... think its the shader and the animation...
Kinda reminded me of a bald George Takei at 1:45 - "Hellooooo"
Shamelessly plugging our game!
