Here's a scene update! I made some changes to the wall because I felt the old texture was a bit too busy and clashing with the solid stone steps. Also was hoping to give the scene more weight with these bigger blocks.
Gonna be working the whole thing round from here on out - EVERYTHING needs more work.. tree, snow accents, steps, walls, mausoleum, skybox. Time to get back to work!! Feedback much appreciated.
it's looking awesome! My only crit is the tree. Since you guys don't have any poly budget, I'd spend a little more time refining the shape and silhouette of it, since it's so big on the screen.

Really great work guys, an impressive team for sure...a few things I was thinking on when looking at the piece. And this might just be me, but does it feel like there are two focal points? one is the light source but the other is the top of the stairs. I open and close my window and my eyes want to walk up those stairs into the structure on the hill.
Jessica in one of your initial comps you had the moon at the top of the stairs next to the structure, and that felt very natural for my eye to go to, now I'm my eyes are not certain.
my other thought is the fence posts could break up that space under the clouds. I do realize its all WIP and you guys did add some white clouds so that was a great touch. Maybe the posts can have different heights? Also wouldn't mind seeing some of the hieroglyphs worked into the wall and stairs to bring it all together?
These are all just thoughts. all my opinion. but hope it helps you look at it in a different way. I think its coming together brilliantly!
long time no post! Was out for a week of vacation followed by family in town, so i'm a wii(<--video game relevant pun) bit behind. but! figured I need to show something to prove I'm not dead and attempt to keep up with my more than awesome teammates.
next few days should be an interesting experiment to see how fast I can paint textures on little sleep apologies for the beautiful max viewport screenshot and very rough concept - i ended up making some changes to make it feel a bit more realistic and have the design fit with the rest of the scene. Still planning on adding the book and hammer as well.
oh man, looking really cool! Looking forward to see how guys bring everything together. I'm sure you are going to add something like this, but having some ground fog/mist will really add to the eeriness of the scene I think.
Awesome you guys, I really hope you finish this. Everything is coming together so well. Funny enough, I just started reading Hellboy: the Wild Hunt and then stumbled upon this thread. I know you guys are pretty far but I think that could serve as great reference
So good, so good! Might look a tad too much rock though with that surface pattern and all the cuts being roughly the same size. All the horns could perhaps use something to anchor them more to the armor, like a brass ring.
eeeaaarly wip... finished uvs and fiinaly got to start painting on the model tonight. armor is still missing all the decoration n' stuff. on it's way though.
hanzo - Thanks so much for the critiques. Mausoleum is supposed to be more of a secondary focal point, with the demon and the main character being the main 2, so that it should form a sort of triangle. Hopefully with effects and lighting that we plan to work, that will read clearer at the end! :] I really like that idea of working the hieroglyphs into the stone walls too, I will def try to get to it before deadline, I think that will look much more interesting.
chaosblade - We like that idea too! We will try to work it in if we can - thanks!
The flying chaps are really getting lost at the moment, but hopefully once you've got some proper lights in there you'll be able to pull everything back and things will really pop.
iansmithartist - yep it's screenshot with Lights off and one sided mesh on capes and fabric pieces, with proper shadows and lighting in UDK these parts should pop out.
wow! the progress from where you guys started to where you guys are right now...unbelievable!
def one of my fave entries. cant wait to see the final. stoked to see how you guys do the smoke/clouds and pose the characters. keep it up. looks amazing
That guy is coming along awesome though I feel like there's too much blue in the armor, I think a second color on the armor could help balance that out. Maybe gold or something?

Gold deserve to people from the light side of the Force ! * winking *
But coming from First Keeper, I know she will do it as her best. You already di an awesome job here, and this Paladin coming is amazing too ! Your entrie is stunning guys (and girls x)) !
And I like the new Background too, but I love a bit more the old one, dont' know, the modd there was more dramatic to me, but it's only a thought Or maybe was the snow ? Huum, don't know ^^
Anyways, keep your work, can wait to see this piece finished !
