I guess this got lost in April fool's jokes, because I had never heard of it until today... but it's supposedly not a joke. It's a legit Far Cry 3 expansion coming out next month. It is 80's inspired. It is awesome.

Hopefully they wont price it to high since it looked like everything was still pretty much Far Cry 3 but new textures/models and a lot of more neon.
Apparently you won't need Far Cry to play it. So a standalone expansion I guess. Makes me think it might be priced more

Shiv- That's like...your opinion man...This is a really good satire of the wonderful era of 80's excess. The fact they point out the character is a veteran of Vietnam 2 only emphasizes the point.
You can't even compare them, Blood Dragon > Far Cry 3. Yes I tried the leaked/pirate version, but I have the game on pre order now.

We had the music really early on to set clear vision/tone to the game. I wish more projects would do this.
Music is sooo important. I think it transpires awesomeness.
Couldn't believe this was real, because it's just So Damn Cool. Serious props to the team and whoever pushed this idea through. I have some faith again in AAA publishers for saying yes to awesome for once haha ;P

there is some really cool character sculpts/weapon art to show. EDIT: will spread the words to other BD artists.
Essentially, it was a very small team for all departments, we were 20 art/programmers for a while which was so cool, retro team sizes : ). Then roughly 50 people on average to close the game. Everyone communicated very well especially with the clear creative/art direction for the game from the very beginning. Having the creative director right next to us everyday has made the team really effective and lots of fun!

The ending really did it for me. Inbetween story missions I did everything else, and the gimmick was getting a little old. I decided to finish the story and the last mission was just awesome

To be honest, I'd be happy if this is the direction the FarCry series went from now on. And man, the soundtrack is fantastic.

Seriously. Comments 100 times worse than that get thrown around in movies and TV shows all the time; why is it all of a sudden a big deal? And with a comment so ambiguous as that? I guess Kotaku has a quota to reach.

Finished it today, ending was awesome.
Yeah it was definitely much more joke about masculinity, which fits in perfectly with 80's over the top macho and testosterone injected themes of the game. Also a character can be flawed and bigoted without making the game discriminatory, Bioshock Infinite did not condone racism although it was filled with it. A quote in isolation does not matter in the context of the whole game.
