WIPdate... armor texture is about 75% of the way there methinks. Gathered some reference today to make a start on the skin areas this week as atm they remain untouched besides a lil polypaint flavoring from yonks ago.
Another shot of my Rex I've been working on during lunchtimes. Added some quick polypaint colour for a bit of flavor. A few proportional tweaks and digit detailing along with final texture and pose to be done.
Thanks Stevston89. I'm planning on a similar colour scheme, I've quickly tried others but I keep find myself liking the green/reds of the current one. They'll be a lot higher in saturation with some variation and higher definition. I'm thinking a a similar aesthetic to that of a Drell from Mass effect.
The T-Rex looks pretty good. Only thing I can say is that the skin right now reminds me of a Toy Dinosaur that I had as a child (Jurassic Park Toys, hurray Childhood memories). I'm not sure if that is a positive or a negative. I'll wait for a beauty shot to decide
Ok I see now. I would make sure your visually consistent with your materials then. Right now you have green for the hard armor like skin, but you have it on softer muscle as well. With the Drell in mass effect the soft vulnerable areas all shared the same colors. A redish color in Thane's case. I would use a dark green for the more armored parts, light green for the skin, and then the red for the vulnerable areas. Here is a quick paint over with that suggestion:
Posed and painted. Was a nice little project, might do another dino as this was really fun. Some full body and blinn shots to come later.
Back to the alien guy Thanks Stevston89 for putting the time in to do the paintover, gonna gather some more ref later today and hopefully make a start on the skin.
Rigged and skinned him albeit pretty scrappy, also placed the placeholder gun in. Still loads of texture work to do, just chipping away at him slowly...
Update on this guy, playing with lighting for when this guy is finished. Also started work on the skin although it isn't finished yet, I've tried to mute the torso area a bit and draw some focus towards the head.
This is is looking really nice now. I think it might help to desaturate the arms and saturate the head just a touch. My eyes are drawn to the arms currently because the seem so saturated. Keep it up this looks awesome!
Started working on a new character, have no idea where to take it, so for now just detailing the face, here's a grab from Zbrush so far (with some PP and zbrush colour adjusts), crits more then welcome
You are nauseatingly awesome!! I hope you don't mind I grabbed a few of your concepts to throw myself at later. I think your cape on the Alien Badass could be more exuberant, kinda like he's a higher ranking person who doesn't give a shit if you see him or not. Otherwise the armor is awesome, I think the skin could be broken up a little more maybe some natural chitin kinda pieces? Either way just my two cents totally bad ass man.
Still feeling out a pose for this guy. Tried some UE4 today with him still need some time with it before I'm comfortable. Textures almost done on the main guy himself.
Working more on some material definition tonight, especially the skin. Want this finished by the end of the month if possible so I can get stuck into something new and put what I've learnt this time around into fresh practice. Feedback welcome!
Changing pose, adding some diorama elements etc...
gonna close his fingers ofcourse, got a ground to add and probably going to add some projectiles hitting and destroying bits of the pillar with some debris.
Feedback wanted
looking sweet man!!! The sculpt is insane. What's your secret to getting the clean/smooth/non-wavy hard surfaces? :O
Love the alien design...freaking awesome can't say that enough. Though the weapon imo isn't that great design wise. At the moment it looks very basic and boring compared to the character.
Also the for T-rex...I've done a dino study before and the proportions seems weird...not sure if it's just me but the tail is supposed to be much longer to compensate for the insanely heavy torso/head. The placement/pose of the legs don't make it look like he'll hold himself upright.
Just my 2 cents. But keep up this amazing work!!!!! love it.
Finishing off this guy now, just got so doing some 'A-Pose' shots. Just got the low poly gun and texture to do. Just to say thanks to the people who gave great crits and feedback
Interesting that you went for red for his blood/subdermis colours, would be interesting to see that in a different direction, like maybe yellow-green mix or something?
Green was actually my first call, when I tried it though it just looked to deeply green, I tried other colours to but the reddish seemed to work best, it compliments the green skin well I think.
Been working on a few bits this week in my spare time...
Did the high poly gun for the alien guy... not much time spent on it and nothing special, amended the design a bit though, need to touch up the low poly and UV+texture.
Decided to concept out a Witcher type character as I'm pretty hyped for the game, so pissing with this during my lunch last week.
Started on the head sculpt to,messed with it quite a bit, kind of like a bit of an art test for myself to see if I want to complete the character.
Started blocking out some WoW fan art... any guesses on who?!
Indeed they are, some irregularities around where the pec meets the deltoid to, he does have pretty large deltoids in the concept art, even still with fresh eyes this morning I need to make plenty of changes
I just wanted to say, I've seen your stuff in the WAYWO thread pop up from time to time and you are killing it. Flipping through the pages you have here, and this stuff looks really great. Keep up the good work.
Haha, someone has decoded my secret message of an old afro man trapped in Illidans torso :P
Here is some work I'm now able to share from a year a go for an unreleased prototype. I did the digital sculpts, retopology, UV, textures, rigging and rendering for the game characters which were based on concepts by Shaun Mooney (the logo was his design to). Unfortunately the product was halted and some items went unfinished (eg the hotdogs arms, the eyes and a lot of shaders and textures). All images are copyright of Clever Beans ofc

Amazing work, I am still going through the thread and constantly finding new things to stare at

Can I take a stab at these please??
Some info on what brushes and such you used for all the skin folds would be amazing.
Not had a great deal of time to do much art this week, but managed to snap an hour and start roughing something out in zbrush for this guy...
