aaand done! had tons of fun with this one, I hope it shows progress shots and stuff can be found on artstation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4EO9n aand do check out Cedric's gallery, truly amazing stuff! artstation.com/artist/cedricpeyravernay
Crap, wrong thread. Meant to click on hand painted stuff. Didn't mean to throw my stuff in here. In any case, Cordero, your stuff looks great. That Dishonored texture is off the wall with your brush strokes.
@praetus haha I didn't understand why you posted it here it makes sense now, no problem! glad you came here by accident! @Amaury thanks! yes this thread starts to become an online digital art diary for me @amirabd2130 thanks!
worked on this a little more, trying to fix some structure, and symmetry issues to a suggestion of a friend!
working on a berzerker right now... he is the owner of the axe from before! there are many unfinished parts, and overall it needs some adjustments, but the general idea is there I believe...
This is really really awesome, here is my thoughts in a GIF. I think it will be worth it to separate the values a bit. I think it looks great though I really do! Awesome!
Awesome berzerker dude! but yeah, I agree with @Natland, there is some contrast and value work that can be done to make it even better. I would also take a look at the skin, right now it reads as the same material as the armor.
@Natland thanks for the feedback! I agree it needed some value changes for sure! @lotet thanks! Wanted to stick to the concept with the skin tone, but I see what you mean! @gfelton thanks!
Brienne from game of thrones! it's super wip, but wanted to post it up anyway! head needs tons of work, many areas are not detailed at all, and overall it needs some ao here and there, and I feel like her head is a bit too bright want to finish her by tomorrow, with probably a nice snowy presentation shot... also her helmet is hidden, but she has one
OH my gosh I love it! This thread makes me so happy!
I think her collar armor could have the same detail as the one in the show, I think it would draw more attention to her face if it had more visual interest. But that is just what I think, I could totally be wrong!
@Tectonic the face is darker now! @Natland I'm really glad you like this thread! I also like your replies! Wanted to stick to the concept in regard of armor design, but the idea is good, and I appriciate your feedback!
I love everything in this thread, your art is amazing! Totally favouriting this for inspiration and for studying Thanks for sharing the process as well.
@aryarie I'm glad you like it! You are making great progress on your thread! Keep having fun! @Ouran thank you Vincent! Trying my best not to dissapoint @Dragonar Thanks! I'm glad you like it! @Floon Thanks! @Nuclear Angel Thank you! I'm glad you like the works here! @kdobkowski hehe thank you! @BradMyers82 Thank you! Trying to challenge myself with each piece, while trying not to kill the fun out of the process @Natland Thank you Natland I'm really glad it's inspirational for you!
loving your stuff , I am doing some hand painted stuff at work as well so this is quiet inspiring. Btw have you given Photoshop's native texture painting a go? you can actually lode in an obj and paint in projection/texture mode, I think this works really nicely for projects where you have to hand paint the details.
Looks great from the front! It's spot on with the concept. However, I think there are inconsistencies with the lighting on the back of the head. She looks to be standing in the shade, as indicated by the dark shadow all around her head. There seems to be a bright light source on her face, coming through a small opening, so it only lights the middle part of her face. Then there seems to be a secondary light source right behind her, as indicated by the subsurface scattering on her ears, which gives a glowing appearance to the ears.
On your piece, the bottom parts of the hair on the back of the head are lighter than the hair on the top of her head, which seems strange. There also doesn't seem to be a clear lighting direction on the back of her head (created by the secondary light).
I also think you didn't spend quite as much time painting the hair from the back or modeling the ponytail. The front hair is broken up in a more interesting way. The ponytail isn't very realistic looking both in terms of modeling and painting. I think you could improve the back of the head simply by finding some additional references of ponytail hair from the side and back, so you can get ideas of what interesting variations to add here.
I realize the piece is mainly meant to be viewed from the front, but I think it would be a good learning experience to try and match the back to the front. Getting the back to work is the more challenging part, because it isn't readily given away by the concept.
@Mehran Khan Thanks! I tried it long ago it wasnt that good back then maybe its better today. 3dcoat pretty much can do everything I need for painting in 3D atm! @Aga22 hehe thanks! @Wendy de Boer yeah I agree the hair needed a lot more work... also the model does fall apart a bit when turned in space thanks for the feedback, that piece could have definitely improved further.. this time however I tired to make the model work from all angle, I hope its better! @Isunoj thanks!
