This is seriously one of the best threads I've seen any single artist start on polycount! Absolutely amazing work man! Some really fantastic character designs!
Hey spider, glad to see you chipping away on this project of yours. For you latest piece are you working from a concept at all? As for proportation I think you shoulders are reading a bit wide.
Mate looking back on the work you've been producing I cannot see you having a problem nailing these proportions, so push away.
You've definitely got to shorten her height wise. Then Id enlarge the hips and thigh area. When looking at concept you could also shorten the length of the stomach area. Lastly the head needs enlarging and the hair could do with some added volume. Plus while you are at it, bring the hair line down as well.
Other than that keep it coming.
*EDIT*
Cheers for the transposemaster work around if I ever get the problem.
Maybe its just due to the fact that there's no texture, but this doesn't look anything like Emma Stone to me. She's got a more round face, a wider and softer chin and her nose is smaller although you do have the correct shape... or maybe its that her eyes are too small? Either way it makes the nose look too big.
You're welcome... not that I'm an expert by any means, just my opinion. The head still looks fantastic, it just not yet looking exactly like Emma. New model looks awesome! You've definitely got the more stylized females sport on.
To Lindsey: Do you know Michelangelo and the Cappella Sistina? :poly142:
I think artists are fascinated, and that's the only thing to understand!
In a discussion about the beauty of the female form represented in artwork, Michelangelo is.. probably not the artist I would have used as my go-to, here. Unless you're just super into dudes with misshapen breasts glued on.
you really need the robe on the front of the crusader chick to be shorter. i'm not talking so short that you can see all the lady parts, but definitely shorter than the knee.
the reason being, right now it's giving the upper legs a really weird visual shape, extremely unnatural, by bringing the robe up above the knee line you'll help destroy that illusion because you'll be able to interpret the line of the inner leg visually.
@almighty_gir: yea, that front robe has been really bothering me. I was hoping to break that once I pose her. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely shorten it. I think in the concept it's longer too. I've fixed the knees, hopefully if I get the time, I will block out the pose and post it later tonight.
I received an awesome critique from Jurion joel(the original artist). So I've refined her pose and blocked out a new cape. Just have a few more things to refine and improve and hopefully she'll be done tomorrow night.

@Lil3dprinting- Cool, I'll contact you.
Slow but steady progress, really want to do this concept by PaPaNinja justice.
Garnet from Steven Universe, awesome cartoon.
Amazing work
You totally bypassed Wonder Woman though!
Events in my life are finally stabilizing enough to really get back to personal work, yay
To get things rolling, a little character I'm working on for a friend
Yup, I'm working from a concept. I'll post the concept later tomorrow during the pose block-out for a better comparison.
Side note, if you ever get a weird error from transpose master saying "No matching data set":
That's how I got transpose master to work for me....god I hate transpose master :poly127:
Anyways here is a very super rough pose blockout with concept
I took some liberties with the pose because it wasn't translating properly. Looking at it now, some things I can definitely push more.

Almost done posing, than all that will be left is her weapon and some minor details.
Aaanndd she's done
A new week approaches and that means a new character.
I've got two more renders to post, but I'll do that tomorrow, its getting late for me. Cheers.

Here is what I'm currently working on, based off a concept by Tim Lochner
Still very WIP
I enjoyed the short lived moment of sculpting her cauliflower ear lol
Currently I'm trying to get the folds on the sleeves right.
Also, I took on Neox's crit in the WAYWO thread, I rounded her legs out some more and made her calves a bit more angular.

Finally got some time to work on the textures, still very WIPy
Calling her done for now. Jurion joel has been making some awesome concepts that I can't wait to sculpt

Thank you for the feedback

Since there are better trained eyes here in polycount, does her knee look too low?
Did this figure study today, tpose and symmetry has spoiled me too much. I should do this a lot more and more often.

I neglected the arms way too much lol.
you should add a v-neck cleavage on the front robe of the crusader chick

Now I'm excited to see what this mystery competition coming up is
