Hey guys! I´ve been working on some weapons theese days, and when marmoset 2 came out, I decided to try its power out by rendering this high poly MP5. I am planning to make the low poly version, so this is just being rendered whith plain colour maps and a noisy normal bump for plastic. Here it is:
I hope you like it, I´ll be posting the low poly really soon
I FINALLY figured out how to use wrapmode in Zbrush properly(I'm a retard) Although I had some issues with performance, pretty laggy sculpting.
Spent an hour or so on a quick sucky rockwall-ish thing texture?..just to try it out ^^ could perhaps work as a base if I throw some rock meshes along with it or something..
Hey, looks great. Maybe try finding a better description than "retard". It can be offensive to parents of special needs children.
retard = french for slow. nothing offensive about it.
The definition of offensive is
"causing someone to feel deeply hurt, upset, or angry."
He was just pointing out that using that word may cause some people to feel hurt or upset and just to be careful when using it. Just like different people have different temperaments and different personalities, some people are psychologically bound to become offended by a word or phrase. Doesn't mean that person is dumb or ignorant. Also doesn't mean you can't ever use the word.. just be weary, that's all.
Hey everyone! I actually haven't posted on polycount for a while..I've been busy working on my own game after leaving my job at Riot recently, so here are a few shots I would like to share with you guys! Hope you guys like it! http://sammustudios.com
@ CGSammu Awesome characters, I'm definitely on the look out for videos of your game after seeing the character line up.
@ MM loving the sculpt!
@ Duncan, very cool red riding hood. I like the folds on the hood a lot.
@NyneDown, sweet Creature box sculpt. Are you planning on doing more? There's some interesting character in the face of the sculpt.
Here's an update on my Demon General. inspired by Wayne Barlowe's 'Barlowes Inferno.' Still plenty of polish left to do... I'd like to work on a sword or knife along with a sleeve for the weapons' hilt to fit.
Really inspiring thread, I have been working on a simple, low poly model of a bow and arrow for an iOS app.
I created a cylinder which I converted to a poly and started tweaking and transforming (scaling, rotating, moving) the verts/edges/polys and adding swift loops, but before I start trying to skin/rig this thing, are there any specific things I should do to the mesh next?
I played around with a smooth modifier, but there's been no smoothing modifier applied to the mesh in the below screen grabs.
Here's a grab of the mesh rendered out with a brown swatch:

Ah, yeah probably could have used a better word, I usually just burp out whatever pops up in my head at the time. Its good that someone calls out that kind of bullshit ^^

The clear thing here meaning: you can take it as an insult all you like, but if it wasn't intended as one, then that's your failing for taking it that way. people shouldn't be scared to use a word... any word, for fear of insulting or offending or upsetting anybody else, because anybody can choose to be insulted, offended, or upset by ANYTHING.

Any thoughts or recommendations?
i guess for an ios game its got way too many polys.
try to search for some low poly bows at google and adapt your model a bit. especially the polys at the radius can be reducet a lot.
heres an example i shamelessly copied from google:
as you can see the bow barely got any polys but still looking very nice due to the texture. remember, textures make lowpoly things pretty

Although my bachelors degree is in Game Art, I have an associates in Psychology. I know a little bit about the human psyche. Regardless of what some people say, being offended by something is NOT a choice. That initial feeling you get that makes you uncomfortable or makes you sad or upset or angry; you do not CHOSE those feelings. They just happen based on your own unique experiences in life. What you DO with those feelings however, is part of the real debate. Are you going to be a dick about it and whine that you are offended? Or are you going to be understanding that what you find offensive others may not.
The other part of the real debate is whether or not we want to be a society without consideration for others feelings. What these men say is true in theory; but in practice saying anything you want without any consideration of what they may mean to some one else and their life experiences is just plain ignorant. You are choosing to take only YOUR life experience and factor it into what YOU deem is acceptable.
I generally don't get offended by much at all. But I understand the basic theory that if someone was sexually assaulted, they may not care for rape jokes.
guys, having a debate about offensiveness in the polycount "What are you working on?" thread is not the place, please take it to messages if you wish to continue.

I like the first shot, but I feel the second one is unnecessary and hurts the impression.
