I dislike picking things appart but as artists we still have artistic freedom thus we can create an atmosphere? can we not? or are we supposed to follow the concept to the hard letter? if so then ill just shut my mouth
well yeah, we can do whatever we want I'm just saying that while image 3 is a good looking piece of concept art, it is horribly unimaginative in terms of lighting and atmosphere. But that's of course just my opinion, who knows, maybe it'll turn out okay
ya sorry i need to keep remembering that my opinion may not be the same as everyone elses but who knows we all may have a completely different take on this project.

I just feel that 3 is very boring and more like a chore than something fun. I was looking forward to something fun. I guess 3 fits the "theme" I wanted for this month the best and that's to work on making something look realistically lived in and have a story. Sadly the story is people doing laundry and getting tools while not taking care of their basement:/
But whatever, if I can buy a new tablet I'll do it anyways, since mine decided to die. I won't photo-source all that wear...
Yes we will, I'll prolly make it at midnight tomorrow and then see about getting it on the main news page so we can have lots of people. Also got a new tablet.
Leph you should do it even if 3 wins, I'll show you zbrush.

I just want to throw this in regarding #3 and the lighting discussion:
it does have lighting, it's just toned way down so the concept reads better. If you light that scene with the indicated light sources only you'll have an atmospheric basement with pools of light in a dark environment

Hey,
Since your one of the people hosting these challenges im wondering what exactly are you guys looking for as far as following the concept because from what i understand (just from following along) i get that you want a 100% exact copy of the cocnept? so if you can confirm or deny this that would really help me realise if i will or will not participate

All that matters is you try to learn. Stay very close to the concept, but don't feel restricted, look at last month's thread for an example, all entries were acceptable.
Also, I will write up the thread and have it posted in 2 hours as promised, 3 is the winner unless something amazingly crazy happens, but I want 3 to win now.
First, good luck to all the ladies and gentlemen who are about to be joined in battle, may the best artist win. Second, out of curiosity, will we keep this thread even though were going on to number three, for discussion I mean.
