Awesome meetup everyone! It was great to finally put some faces to the usernames I've become so familiar with. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance. For now here's a group shot that was posted on the facebook event page.
I'm pretty sure that at peak, there were around 100 Polycounters in attendance. It was a fantastic meetup and it was great seeing people from last year along with a bunch of people I only knew from online.
I wish I was there, was way too tired but it was awesome meeting Ryan Hawkins at the Ubisoft booth ( that was a total surprise ) Meeting NDO folks was really awesome, finally met the infamous " Corridor guy " and the dude from the Vertex Magazine booth- great talk man.
Once again I didnt get the chance to talk with nearly half the people that I wanted to. It was still a great time and I cant wait for next year.
Super sweet shout out to emil for not only setting it up but also sitting down and taking like 40 minutes to look at and critique the shit out of my stuff. That was super cool of you man and helped so much. I'll never get critique like that from anyone hanging around the career pavilion.
next time let's get some pc nametags up in this bitch! I like that it encourages you to talk to people but at the same time there's a lot of folks I would have loved to say hi to but have no freakin' idea what they look like.
Maybe next year I'll pin my avatar to my shirt, heh

Custom avatar based pins with a name would be awesome. But a cheaper and maybe better approach would be to make a bleach shirt with a greentooth on the front, and your name and avatar in stencil form on the back. A pin might be too small. Everyone I met was super awesome. I had intended to swing by and see what it was like and then head to the Kixeye party. After meeting the first couple people, I said screw the party!
Just wanted to drop by to say thanks for 'the good times'. Too bad I missed the picture, I think I was dragged away for a bit while it went down. At least I got to sign Ryan's table ^_^. Anyway, it was delightful to meet all of the old and new Polycounters alike.
One suggestion for next year, everyone should wear their GDC badges so that we can make out who is who. I was finally able to meet Lee Amarakoon because he was wearing his GDC badge. Aside from that pleasant surprise I found myself only hanging out with the people I either recognized, or those whom I knew beforehand. It would have been great to meet up with some new folks.
I'm starting to think we do actully need a Polycount gang sign. I keep seeing people with a greentooth in the SF airport and those are just the few wearing a shirt or pin.
You know you can just flash it at someone you suspect is a secret Polycounter and it'll be super sweet.

Just my 2 cents!
Yeah that's a good idea, I left sort of thinking of ways to encourage people to mingle a little bit more too, as it seemed people were just sort of hanging out with who was at their tables a bit. I didn't even know you were there for instance, or Lee until he was leaving and someone pointed it out to me.
And regarding the name tags, I ordered a roll of these (green of course) but didn't notice that Amazon's super shipping option pushed the delivery date to one week from now.
** smacks forehead ** Emil! that's his name, nice talking to u man- hopefully someday I'll join u guys at Massive Ubisoft- the Swiss alps does sound nice
I am actually surprised that people actually knew who I was and recognized my work, it's a small world after all indeed. My logo is very iconic I guess. Also, that table thing was true, I'm a boisterous fellow, but I didn't want to be all rude barging in. I did a couple of times though... Oh dear,
@Gav: Gavin! Thank you so much for the portfolio review! I'm still kind of confused why it wasn't eviscerated on Friday O.o. But awesome to final shake hands at least.
And hopefully it wasn't weird that I started with some footage of Core Overload.
Bummed I missed out on the meet-up. So many secret parties! But I did stop by the Quixel/Vertex booth a couple times, was pretty rad seeing PC faces IRL.

I got to rub Ryan Hawkins' nipple.
And he rubbed mine.
We are now officially besties.

And too many drinks, my voice is still gone. :<
Hey, I met you! You should have just said you're 'Swizzle'. Now its weird!
I took your card and said "Whoah, what a name"
I remember that! I think.
A lot of people say that.
...Nice to meet you?
Hehe yeah, it wasn't until I got home and looked at his card that I figured out who he was!

Anyway, a huge pleasure to finally meet you all and I can't wait for next year already!
Was a fucking awesome time - finally got to meet a ton of people that I've been meaning to for years.

If this thread has taught me anything, it's that I'm terrible at introducing myself as an internet person.
Also, I kind of wanted to touch your hair. Is that weird?
Seriously though it was awesome meeting everyone and putting faces to names. Can't wait til next year
I did too, also, I'm pretty sure Gav is in the mafia.
