Awesome Hunter. Do you think you'll manage to rig it up and get this guy in game by monday? I know you've got some experience with the llama, so I'm guessing maybe? Best of luck!
Fuck yeah, that was worth the wait! Great job, both of you, the set came out amazing Lets play a game tonight Dani, I need to blow off some steam after all this stress ^^
I got some very insightful critique on one of my items once upon a time on the Workshop which I think applies to your presentation shot as well.
and i know imni is blue and orange, but blue orange contrasts is just fucking cheating because people wil think it looks cool just because its those 2 colours, Why do you tihnk EVERY SINGLE FUCKING MOVIE poster is blue and orange, so you'll buy their shit flic without tihnking. So this items could be total crap and you'd probably still aprove it just caus e of the colours -10 for basically cheatinng.
I uploaded an in-game video to youtube. Recording isn't very fancy, but I wanted to share how everything ended up looking in motion in game. The video quality is also a little poor, there's some compression and color/contrast issues but it's still a pretty good idea of how the things look ingame.
Thanks a LOT everybody!!! And please, men! Plural!!! This happened thanks to a big team-work effort!!
In the end, on my side as 2D artist I'd like to say that is truly hard to see a 3D artist that makes a true translation to 3D from the 2D concept artwork, and Hunter nailed it, either with the modeling, texturing and weight work! And that's what people is going to have in game!
Also as a Dota 2 hardcore player I really hope to see in game sets like Nephropid Plate, Vicious Krait, Archivist's Golem among others. I mean, they are all fantastic!
Now as Vidotto says, 2 days to celebrate it and back to design moar stuff for Dota!!
This wasn't a big surprise, I mean the mount (and eyepatch) alone makes it a worthy winner, incredible work and very deserving of the grand winner spot. Congratulations!
I find Dota's critique about your piece interesting... They sing your praises, which you deserve, but then say if they were too change something it would be too get rid of the feather behind the saddle. I frankly think if you had removed the feathers from behind the saddle it would look too similar to their already in game mount. I truly think that this was a perfect entry. In my opinion it is more professional looking than some/most of their in house designed assets. I wonder if you will get a job offer... doubt they could afford you though with a portfolio like yours.
Thanks for all the support guys! I honestly had no idea what was gonna happen until the announcement came through, was amazing news after a painfully long week :P
Can't wait to see/get all the sets ingame next week (assuming they release a big pack)! Looking forward to seeing how many more entries are get added in the coming months as well, there were some seriously badass entries that need to be added still!
redcap - Thanks man, they didn't say they would remove the back feathers though, just tone them down. I imagine that means just sizing them down a bit, as they're pretty large/noticable.

Here's the sculpts I baked from in the meantime.
Can't wait to see them lovely textures, just curious what are the texture sizes for mounts?
Really, really well done.
FINISH HIM!!!!
Lotrein: I think we LITERALLY took the last second for this. I bet I accepted in 23:59:59 the last item
Personally I was doing with one hand this and with the other professional work, and I think Hunter had to manage with prowork too...
Props to Eduardo Pallares for his help on the last hours!
great work
lets have a beer to celebrate everyone that could finish in time! =]
love the bird creature,

And I'm really happy you could submit it in time, it deserve a prize :poly121:
Ah, the internet...
Good luck!
It was a fun ride! I'm glad to call it done though, and looking forward to tackling some more sets in the future.
I took a couple final model shots for my portfolio and polycount, here they are.
And here's a diffuse only for those of you into that sort of thing
