I assume it was supposed to be included in the Nexon chest released today because I made it for Nexon, but Valve rejected it. Feeling gutted about that again, but it reminded me to share it anyway. Maybe not my best work but I wasn't given much flexibility in hero choice or to improve it after the fact.
Did they mention at all why it was rejected? I mean if I had to guess I might say that perhaps the items are too desaturated as compared to the original model, so the colours don't fit well imo. I think that set turns ES quite colourless. I'd like to hear Valve thinks of it though.

The colors are definitely bland, I went back and worked more on the textures after and improved the colors as well as reduced the detail and noise as well. I don't have any images of it though.
I was only told that there were "too many issues to give feedback on and try to fix" which could mean anything.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I'm having. At the moment I'm working on a Timbersaw set, and everything's importing fine exempt for the reactive armour. I just can't get it to work as it should. At the moment I'm parenting it to the 'shield' bone, but the import doesn't work properly as although the armour appears in roughly the right place, it doesn't animate like reactive armour should. Has anyone done this before that can let me know what to do?
@Stirner: about your last rubick set: I like the staff and the face, but the cape seems a bit too invoker-like and overall the design lacks the rubick-green in it (the design you posted before seems a lot more rubick-y)
@keinhangia: The new design has more shape to it and the contrast is a lot better but I'm disappointed that you decided to leave the anime-ish looking style. The sword seems way too ordinary now and the mask feels a bit lacking too. Straying away from the human/beast slayer feels like a mistake too (I was the one who mentioned that it looked Bleach-like but that was a compliment if anything...)

Valve would probably tell you to apply a light to dark gradient from top to bottom on both the robe and the white ribbon. They might also comment that the white ribbon is an unnecessary focal point - maybe a color gradient would help as in have it transition from a darker blue around his armpits to almost white at the top?
I think the white squiggly pattern on the robe should be replaced with larger details like folds and stuff (can be a larger pattern).

I tried to use it to improve the design, I think it looks a lot better now. I kept the pattern because I feel like the robe would look too boring without it, but I tried to make it less awful.
That looks much better! Maybe one of the more experienced artists can chime in with further advice.
Your advice already gave him huge improvement! Only from my POV, the yellow (golden?) parts could use some of orange-to-slighty-red hue near the parts where is more shadowy so to say, other than that, it's lovely concept!

I have legal/financial question. Are there any issues with Valve paying to you after your item is accepted? My concern is on the following issue: For example you don't have any registered firm, company or something like "designer studio bla bla" d.o.o. or something like that. Your status is unemployed, student or you work for some company. So, can you get paid as a citizen on say your personal visa card for example? I do understand that after you get paid you must handle taxes in your country, but that is not my concern. Im concerned can you submit your personal card number and be paid on that? I hope you understand what im saying.

Was this ever fixed? Try launching a local game against bots and then use the upper left button to go back to the main menu while the bot game is still running in the background.

I have not really done much collaboration and I wouldn't say I am the most confident artist either. I'm also pretty sure I work a lot slower than most people on here.
I have no experience with animation, so custom animations would probably require another person/much, much more time for me to read up on and practice animation.
If you don't find any better offer than mine, I will gladly start it as soon as I finish my Razor set.

Reminds me of WoW style (i mean it in a good way), very well executed.
Only thing, maybe i would have made the back skirt flow a bit less horizontally, it kills a bit the nice volume that he has on the shoulders imho.

Quick question about texture files that go 512x256, I tried doing UV's on one half of a square, then crop it, however, it just squeezes it when I load it in-game. If I go and squeeze that ''square'' myself, it loads up in game just fine, however textures are pure shit then. How do i fix this? :S

Have you tried setting the UV square's dimensions to be a rectangle of the right proportions instead of a square? I've done it in Max, not sure about Maya/Blender.
#MugenMCFugen. ReMixx has the right of it. Map to the full square proportions and paint to the non-square proportions. The only real fix is to optimize your UV layout to use as much of the available space. To help you with that, we will need to see your texture/UVlayout so we can better understand the issue you have with the lack of resolution.

I know I should optimize it to the fullest (as in fill the whoooole UV layout) but I had issue with the resizing... I made mistake by doing UV layout on 1024x1024, instead doing it on 1025x512 and then doing the bake and resize process, so the texture in the end looked like poop. Thanks a lot ReMixx !

Hello everyone, signed up to the forum , but I want to understand how everything is done , because we want to and we have it all to develop in Russia , as many players , and good things and makes few tournaments so we decided to take the first we have in Russia , I want to learn you advice , we want to start the tournament on a holiday on May 9 "Victory Day" and make a set on the sniper for the tournament. There is an idea , the realization of lame , so I want to know you can be me who is experienced and will tell you , and will do a thing with him , of course not for free , I will be glad of your advice.
I manned up and made a Dota2 item after not touching Zbrush and Maya for maybe 2 years.
It's not anything special, the design isn't thought-through, but I've at least learned the process.

The detail map is a tiny bright green square that is not used by any of his default textures. It's commented out in all of the .vmt's.

hmm well, actually consider it is well done. but somehow for my taste it looks "organic" and i think more fit on NS (but NS is not available yet)
