Those which are inside AI psychosis are shoving LLMs, ML and alike into anything they can cram it into. They all imo fail to understand the underlying issues they are trying to fix.
News wise, going the proposed Epic Games approved road™ means being reduced to an easily replaceable worker, someone who doesn't make a dent, to be thrown out in the middle of a project or a day before release, someone who just doesn't matter. Hardly a path you would want for yourself.
Be it megahuman, megascans, or those AI assetpacks which are inside
llms are simply a stupid lure.
Using AI Instead of being creative means to use only preapproved
thoughts, ideas and data, being stuck in an ecosystem with full control
over you.
Another tell on that is, those AIs are a blackbox, online only, subscription based and you
are locked out of ever truly owning the fruits of your labor. Some also go further and say you have to share any revenue and what you created can and will be used for further training of their AI.

Why waste time trying to capture someones likeness when you can put an image into ai and get a very decent result that captures intricate forms within minutes? It's not perfect but if used correctly it would take at least 70% of the work out of the sculpting process specifically.

Have you no pride? Do you want to be an artist, or do you just want to be a digital janitor that's just brought in to mop up after the AI's shit? Personally, the thought of forgetting about sculpting and accepting just mopping up the last 30% after an AI did everything makes me want to slit my wrists.

Why waste time learning anything, if a computer can just cough it up any time you like? Why eat tasty food, if I can just drink soylent? Heck, why even get up in the morning?
Because making things, and the learning process itself, feels good and improves your brain.

I have been making some progress on one of the main angles. Worked on several texture sets and blockouts for assets. Also tried to iterate on lighting pass and decided to keep this one for now.

Started with a blockout of the corridor in Unity, using baked lighting. Possibly trying some looping level? I'll use texture sets from Polyhaven as a base.
Blockout with primitives
Still primitives, applied some textures from Polyhaven
Next would export the layout and trace it in Blender, then go from there.

Also uploaded an early web build to itch: https://fabian-golz.itch.io/bimonthly-corridor . Has some hacky looping and it's possible to fall out of the world.

wallpaper: needs to bee torn up in places and affecting silhouette. Perhaps vertex blending maps, additional detail meshes on top.
inclusion of dynamic objects, like a zombie? Mix of dynamic and baked lights? Use of light probes?
for detailing props, thinking about going with a trim atlas approach, store unique maps in vertex color?
would be cool if the room changed on looping

No brutal critique, just critique here.
The composition of the scene is alright, but the image feels flat. I would change contrast settings, change framing of the scene, add vignette. Highlight your main subjects with light in a more interesting way. Get some feeling of moisture in the air with volumetric lights, divide middleground and background add some supporting green color, play with wetness and specularity on objects.
Also, check vertex normals on your staircase. it looks very low-poly and that is why shading on it is super soft.

finished the caldwell test model textures! This took a bit longer than intended, but It's about as good as something like this could get. texture sits at 128x128 with 16 colors total (was expecting to add a few more shades but never did!)
Let me know what you think so far! next step will be rigging and base animations so that the 2D version can be replaced in engine!
