Hi! You could bake some straightened straps down, basically adding some reusable strap parts to the texture atlas, you can then map the lowpoly UVs to. Certainly an option to save texture space if you have many straps. If you array and deform your straps along curves, makes it easy to swap out the base mesh.

Those kind of straps I would always do with thickness, doesn't make much sense having them just as planes. Thick lowpoly for the straps will increase the polycount only marginally but give you a clean bake and a lot more realistic looking piece.

Is that really motivational? Seems more depressing to me than anything.
It basically seems to me like "I'm extremely skilled, qualified, disciplined and hard working but I still can't get shit in my field and I'm having to work two shitty jobs just to live. But this is totally motivational because on the end I said that it's resilience and I'm not giving up."
Of course, I'm a cynical bitch, so I'm bound to read it that way, but still. If you look at it for its objective reality and not his personal view on it, it's just bleak.

Asking for clarification on the texture limits. What is splitting? Does each "pass" count as a texture?
4x textures at 4096 ... does that mean 4 material trim sheets (for environment), each with any number of "passes", each material at 4096? Like one metal, one rock, one paints, one fabrics?
Or does it mean that each texture pass is a texture and you get four? Like one albedo, one roughness, one normal, one metallic each at 4096 each, and that's everything? Make one single trim material?

I like the idea of restricting it to a genre as with the previous Brawl. A fighting game stage gives a pretty good idea of scope and what you need to do. The current prompt right now can be anything.
If we wanted to continue with the idea we can pick a popular genre (several new ones since 2011) and then let it go from there.
- Hero shooters
- Mobas
- Roguelikes
- Soulslikes
- Third person open world adventure
- Boomershooters
- Lootershooters
Pick a character, vehicle, or vertical slice to remix. If you keep the multiverse idea, you can say change the style or genre for the thing you pick. You could go with one theme like the Mad Max/Post apoc idea.

Nah all good, specs for vehicles/mounts capped at 50k are fine well at least for me, because I've been working on a large asset creation technique + non industry pipeline which at this stage of testing just generating the prototype piece using an hybrid trim sheet approach, whilst also looking into texture atlas's, that seems IMHO promising to adopt as a personilsed workflow so anticipate I'd come in under anyway.

And since there's feedback here related to lack of theme as yet, might start the ball rolling plus nod to the original contest fighting brief - so howabout a Mad Max theme (rad vehicles alongside buff staunch chars do go well together
) or whatever dystopian world/universe environment 'set in' thingy?

Self Oriented Lattice tool for Maya

I have made a version of my Volume Auto-Fit Lattice of blender but this time for MAYA, I have tested it in Autodesk Maya 2025 and 2026 and in both version works fine, if you try it in an older version and it throws some error you can share it with me to fix it and update it. Well sure, the whole job market is bleak, so yeah it's hard to absorb we have to resort to shit like this. On the other hand I just like his "rolling up my sleeves" attitude, like I'll do whatever the fuck I have to, to raise my kids and keep food on the table. I admire him for his grit.
