Now for automotive work you model the car mid poly, I have never seen automotive work going through high and low poly. Due to the nature of car's curvature shifts and mostly flat areas. Usually you bake the mid poly car onto itself to get the required maps.
Having said that vehicles that do go through high / low poly pass may include military vehicles or ones that have been acquired via photogrammetry.
Enable Apply Diffusion, it helps with blank areas during mipping. Try with min / max distance at .007. Also make sure _high _low suffix match your car parts, they are case sensitive (if your car_part_High then make sure in High Poly Mesh Suffix area its _High and not _high)
Some links and images below to assist you. All the best!
End of June, beginning of July seems like a decent time frame to get this organized and build up hype. I think limiting the categories to character and environment is fine, if there is enough interest for other categories, then perhaps sometime in the future. Other things that need to be thought about is who are the judges going to be and how many do we need? Are we going to rely on volunteers or have to reach out to people? The people judging should also not be participating in any other way in the interest of fairness.
Agreed. I think it's fair to assume that social media platforms are losing their appeal, and people are *very much* thirsty for places like here and are slowly but surely coming back. So, a big thank you to everyone behind the scenes putting time and resources into maintaining this place.
If anything I'd personally love for the Showcase and Critique section to be complemented by a "wall of current art" page, showing the first (or last ?) image of each thread, going back as far as possible. In principle there's nothing wrong with the oldschool display of thread titles but it doesn't really make things visible (the magnifying glass helps but is a bit tedious). Such an art wall wouldn't replace the text based view, but could be a handy complementary page and a good resource for browsing.
The site homepage does that to an extent, but it only highlighting threads with replies as a "best of" defeats its purpose quite a bit IMHO.
okay real post this time, this been on off a month or so, i really liked the look of this concept so i wanted to replicate it for now in a sculpt, i had to make up the back and adjust things "away" from the concept, so practicing that part of my "reinterpretations/recreations". playing with ruffle ideas, already made the backpack/weapon+. right click img cntrl+ for zoom action.
Hey guys. I’m pushing my concept sketching skills. I’d love to see any feedback you may have. Lately I’m focusing on vehicles(because they’re awesome.) what I’m trying to improve right now is line weight/quality and form design. Thanks for checking out my thread.
This is a UGV(unmanned ground vehicle) design based on some reference I collected
