My day job is gravestones, it's not exactly a technically forward facing industry. For the longest time our solution to big columbaria projects has been to hand render them into a photo, which is a laborious process. (Example Columbarium) These are not complex objects and I was able to skip some of the steps by building a…
heya, i know this isn't strictly video game art but i hope its ok if i ask here i want to try make a snowbaord design and i was wondering whats the best way to get a shape from a photo. i need to just get the basic outline of a snowboard so that i can start working on different patterns and stuff. what i was thinking was…
Hi, My name is James Tan. I am a programmer working with RoboBlitz and have had great success in developing my game for it. I am also an artist but I haven't had much time to work on the art assests while developing code at the same time. Unlike almost every other mod for RoboBlitz out there, mine is an actual working…
So, we should have all seen this trailer before Transformers. It's J.J. Abram's new movie dubbed 'Cloverfield'. I've spent the past couple hours reading up on it all, and there's just so much to take in already. For us Lost fans, this seems to be right up our alley, at least all the mystery so far. Giant monster movie?…
People keep saying that this is all a matter of triangulation in max, i think that is a load of shit. You can have an entirely triangulated mesh in max and still get bogus errors you wouldn't get a in maya. On the other hand, you can have a mesh comprised half of 5 sided faces in maya and still get a very accurate result.…
Hello Eric, I am posting wireframe of brick, Wall with less detail ( I used destroyed part here but you can guess geometry of solid wall based on that) and wall with more detail. Even the lowpoly wall does have some extra vertices due to vertex painting. And for the refference image, I am adding link. My aim here is to…
Heyo! Here's some stuff you should check out. Definitely read through the first link, then listen to those crunchcasts while working or if you have some downtime. Lots of golden nuggets of info in there. http://www.jonjones.com/2005/10/07/your-portfolio-repels-jobs/ https://vimeo.com/55005051 [ame="…
The two largest things bothering me are the shoulder and bicep. They are both too large. I think you are underplaying the pectorals and overplaying the shoulder. The pectorals should be wider for a guy this size. Also what is making it look too large is the lack of a collar bone. No matter the size of a guy... the collar…
Hey Muddymink! Since you were looking for some advice, I thought I'd leave a few comments - and just to make clear, I'm not a character artist myself, so feel free to take any comments with a grain of salt. - Coming at it from a character perspective, I think you've got a great start. I think the concept is a great, I…
Nice! In terms of feedback id ask what youre rendering this in? In terms of real time it might be worth looking into UE4 and getting a super nice car material setup. When cars are in such a clean condition as this one looks to be then a lot of the detail and realism comes from the paint and how its reflecting the…
