you missed a . after your last sentence regarding Mudbox, after all this years they release this feature in such a half ass way it does not let us do any boolean like operation such as cutting through one mesh to have two separate mesh elements or deleting parts of mesh or joining multiple elements together
Thanks guys Here is a quick update...I'm slowly baking out all the highpoly elements updated the vid too...sorry for the low compression http://aldenfilion.com/me3 Not all the elements are baked out on the spider so its a little bare right now and light maps aren't behaving :) I'll get it sorted it out though.

Is there any quick way to put a bunch of different solid coloured materials on different elements of a mesh and then bake those to a textue with edge padding? Right now the only way I've found is using the transfer maps low to low tranfer. Works okay but I have to do each element one at a time and then composite the map…

The scales were made using C4d cloner tool, each group of an elements separately. The elements are located pretty closed to the character's surface, so i find projection isn't make a problems.
