Level Designers (Gameloft Toronto)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities


The Level Designer will work closely with the Game Designer and Programmers to help implement all interactive content in games. The successful candidate will mainly participate in producing and designing levels, as well as script all gameplay elements. There is a strong technical side to this role.
  • Integrate all interactive elements (images, animations, sounds, gameplay, etc.)
  • Script cinematics and events
  • Define the locations of interactive objects and enemies
  • Create a list of useful tools for level design
  • Create a strict nomenclature to simplify group work
  • Assist the Lead Designer in creating various elements and levels in a game
  • Double-check all content added to games to ensure quality and conformity
  • Adjust animations or graphics upon request
  • Test in-game functions
  • Prepare prototypes and storyboards for certain parts of a game
  • Enter data related to game content
  • Prepare presentation and design documents

Skills and Profile
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple script languages
  • Good knowledge of game editors (e.g. Hammer, UnrealEd, SDKs, etc.)
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office and game prototype creation
  • Passion for video games and their history
  • Knowledge of 3D Studio Max or Maya
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D animation methods
  • Able to learn how to use new development tools
  • Excellent organizational skills and methodology
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the processes involved in creating video games
  • Good communication skills and able to work in a team
  • Bilingual French and English an asset
  • Knowledge of Flash an asset
