Keep in mind that after you rig it the head will be down by the chest, might want to rotate the geo to like a diagonal 45 degree position for the global ao and gradient map.
Lights in Maya typically don't have raytracing on by default. Go into your light's attributes and turn on raytracing. Also make sure raytracing is on in your MR render globals.
Or can you write all relevant keywords down so I can google them and create my own little doc? Like I know Distance Field, Global Illumination, Cascadian.
Under global illumination, when secondary bounce is activated, shadows gets deeper/darker. I probably don't understand things, but shouldn't shadows become lighter if light rays are allowed to bounce a second time?

yeah i've seen this before, can you not just reweld the uvs and export with correct obj settings? In zbrush there's also a Tool > Export > Mrg setting for welding and can be setup in the import/export prefs (if you want it as a global option).
I think he might be talking about the global Ray Depth Control, on the Raytracer Tab (Scanline)? I think it defaults to 9 and I thought it only worked on reflective surfaces, so that might not be it... Maybe its a MR setting?
