I've been using Blender on and off recently and the update to 2.5 is really excellent. I found 2.49 and before so unappealing and confusing, but this new version is so much more comprehensible. I've really enjoyed using it so far.
You could buy that machine brand new (minus GPU) from somewhere like PCSpecialist for around £900, and then pick up the GPU new from elsewhere (e.g. Amazon) for around £275. Second hand hardware should not be that expensive...
just noticed that i've steadily been getting hits on my webspace from this 2.5 year old thread so it appears this topic is still being researched. so just for reference: the issue was reported and the fix made it into 4R8 P2.
Why's this a problem? Lack of Jergens? ;) The new steering wheel looks damn good. Now to see a prices ;) They also mentioned a new madcatz, but didn't mention if it's wireless. $230 is a bit pricey for me though, and it better have wireless at that rate ;)
Blender is an awesome program. I've been using it for years. FYI, 2.5 builds do not have a bevel operator, nor do they have the skin face/edges script. Appearantly both of those won't be redone until Bmesh is implemented.
I'd like to convert say a Red value of 255 to Alpha value of 100, and Red value of 0 to Alpha value of 0.. it'd be best if maps didn't need to be generated or processed as there are a large number of objects that would need conversion.
i started with max 2.5 on a 250mhz, it sucked but i think an 800 should be able to run it fine unless you start hitting anything high poly I WUZZ MOJO (haha edited wrong post, sorry Mojo!)
This script takes the current layer, reduces the levels of the blue channel, from 255 down to 128, and then sets the layer to overlay mode. Hello. I have a problem with newest version of Substance (2.5). I cannot bake my mesh properly. All of my bakes looks like without ticked option "Average Normals". I cannot get to work max frontal and rear distance. How Can I fix this ? Right now I cannot bake anything :( Thanks and Cheers !
