I wonder how that compares to bent normals in practice, the look seems very similar. https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.0/en-US/bent-normal-maps-in-unreal-engine/
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Vg5ZeN Hey everyone! This is my first Unreal Engine 5 project. This scene is lit with 100% realtime lighting taking full advantage of Unreal Engine 5 latest advancements of Lumen & Global Illumination and Virtual Shadow Maps. it all depends on your engine but in my experience... 1: in a best case scenario it's 1 call per object per shader so yes. 2: depends on the engine - in all likelyhood it probably wont There's other stuff like submeshing that will have an effect. for example on a mobile platform you might find a skinned mesh is processed…
Hello, I have a question about materials in 3ds max and in the game engines. I was using the blender game-engine for the last 6 month and since there was no need to export objects to other engines there were no issues with the materials neither. Following the advice of many in this forum I recently changed to 3ds max and…
Interesting - did you try loading up this asset and normalmap into an engine that you know is synced with the regular Maya baker ? After all, the results displayed inside Maya/MayaLT do not matter as much as what is shown inside a proper engine ...
BTW, Gamebryo is just a rebranding of the old NetImmerse engine, I believe. Pretty sure it was made by a UK middleware developer quite a while ago (before Morrowind), and while it may have been tweaked by Bethesda since then, they didn't "make" the engine.
Sadly not, I tried to put it intoUDK today, but I'm not very familiar with it and just started to learn how to use it. Besides UDK, it will also be put into the Source-Engine (HL2), I hope that will turn out good, the engine is pretty old :P
You are right if he doesn´t want to put it in a 3d engine, but if he wanted to do so it would be better for performance, because the engine doesn´t have to triangulate the n-sided polys. Correct me if i´m wrong ;)
