Disclaimer: Some of this is dependtant on using object space, and wont really work with tangent, but i tried to keep this as application-un-specific as posible. You can always follow all of these steps and then convert your object space map to a tangent space map in the end using xnormal's converter tool, but you will get…
Finally! We are extremely happy to announce to you our next video game art challenge here at Polycount: the Escape In many ways this challenge will be an experiment for us; Usually we have very tight-knit rules & specifications for our contests and a very specific theme. This time around we wanted to offer you guys a…
It's coming along nicely. Awesome progress! You're not going to waste my time are you =) I held back from vomiting out a ton of lighting tips and tricks before, often it falls on deaf ears. You sir are not deaf! w00t! If you are using a volume light effect on the center spot light, under the Spotlight Parameters rollout,…
Well, I just finished the game. Final play time was around 26 hours but there's still a lot left to do as I basically stopped doing side missions after Act 2 to finish the story mode since it picks up in intensity and doesn't stop until the end. The last few missions of the game were absolutely insane, they had to have…
So after working for 10 hours non stop I have to admit I was exhausted but happy with what I had created yesterday on the 19th of August. Edit and on a side note So, after going trough a shit load of emails/messages and talking to a bunch of amazing and talented people, we realized that 3d artists are a lot more expensive than we initially thought. We unfortunately cannot spend more than $450 per month for 3d art, as we really don't have more money than…
Yeah first off let me just say that i don't have much exp. doing vehicles, so i'm going look at this from a different viewpoint, more of a general asset creation viewpoint you could say. Its worth bringing up that most car games do things a certain way, however i think its also good to look at issues like this with a fresh…
For panoramas, you're going to stitch together multiple shots. A wide angle lens is good, but fisheye lenses are sort of overated. You would be better off getting a very wide lens that has little distortion, instead of a fisheye with massive distortion. You get a large view with the fisheye, but the corners are very warped…
