cubed modeling -- Resurrected thread
not sure what it was originally called, but "cubed modeling" is how i seem to remember it. The idea is to create a model with 128 polys, and use a 128x128 texture map to skin it. Or replace 128 with 64, or 256......you get the idea. I was kinda miffed that the old boards went down before i got to make one for the old… -

Yes. But Blender doesn't seem to use much GPU too. The build in that video achieved high polycount with way too old Graphics card for such performance (those 8GB of ram on the other hand...). Multiresolution sculpting test: Dynamic topology sculpting test: Neither one seems to mainly use GPU. -

I made those changes to the textures for this one. (and I corrected the poly count listed on it. it's the same model, but I'd labeled it wrong before) (I moved the image to the top in place of the old one) edit: oh, i just noticed my typo on the corrected text too. i'll change that too. -

Wife, 5 year old and another one due any day now. Lucky for me she doesn't get in the way of me working too much or playing games (She games a lot too). But the kid... he pretty much demands attention, lucky for me he games as well. -

Trim textures are a great technique, just recently learned about them. Considering the scope of the scene, and what's going to be presented, it wouldn't hurt to add some more edge loops on the curved part of the arch, and maybe one more level for circular window frame too in the context of this challenge.
