That last reference picture you posted has really great mood and colour, you should deffo aim in that direction i think. Your palette is turning more and more orangey brown atm, a bit monochromatic. Hi, using tileable textures would save a lot of time and texture space. When I look at your new picture, it looks like the whole wall is using an unique texture(maybe the floor too), that must cause extreme resolution requirements and extreme creation time. Yes... And no. Yes if you want accurate details you need heightmap of you main texture (for example bricks). Fortunetly the heightmap do not have to be super accurate (of better hm will yield better results), but one genrated from let say CrazyBump will be enough. the newer versions of your textures upped the value contrasts in the images, but didn't define your shapes more clearly. You're having a serious problem with edge and form definition, and it's caused largely by your purposeful avoidance of hard, single-pixel edges. You're painting most everything with a somewhat soft brush… -
