skinmap is all done. if anyone has 914kb of space that they dont mind hosting the file with, then i'll release it hahaha. oh and im gonna start rigging later too, so i can make some neat poses with whichever skins people do, as well as my own =]
A) Yes, just make sure all the parts share the same rig via the Skin setup. B) Usually, you can attach the different parts together and drop a UV modifier to mange them, OR you could just select all the pieces and UV modifier them all.
I personally prefer max for modeling and maya for animation and rigging. In max I like how you can make a stack of modifiers while modeling. It remainds me a bit of photoshop layer system. You can always come back without loosing your final result.
What I want to know is what the upper limits are, which is far less asked. Say you can concept, model, texture, rig and animate, and get promoted to art director at a major studio. How high can you go if you break you back to get there?
Rick Stirling: Thnx for comment. I overlayed diffuse map to normal but this is visible only in big zoom. Add a little noise to spec map is good idea. I'll try it. I dont want to rig him now. In fact i cant longer look on this character :D
Thx for the input but could you elaborate? If you mean on the gun I already have a low poly version. If you mean more tubes on the body I am being careful since eventually I'll have to rig it. If you mean something else please tell me :)
I thought , riders, was a fine theme. It focuses on moungies but leaves other items open. We dont want to limit the dntrirs pool. Mounts are tougher due to polycounts geo and rigging They still have the same challenge converning detsils. Takes longer to sculpt a large piece etc...
Sounds interesting :D I was wondering the other day is there anyway to view character rigs/animations from the game to better understand how to create custom ones? I've actually got both L4D's on the xbox but wouldn't mind picking up a PC version for working on mod stuff.
So I created the Kart Driver model, and today am in the process of rigging him in Maya. You’ll notice some odd deformations around the legs. That’s because I’m right smack in the middle of adjusting the default weighting on the model. Looking forward to animating this guy to ride around in the Karts!
@Elithenia I painted it directly in 3dcoat. I used a few different ao bakes to help with that on very low opacity. I'm not happy with the flowers, there's too much detail there so I want to simplify and rework those but I'm rigging her rn so she can be posed
