I want to make a window that looks like this: http://imgur.com/uTK85 1) I can use the "insert edge loop tool" to cut all the vertical and horizontal shapes, but then I get stuck on the diagonal cuts. I can do them using the "split polygon tool", but how can I make sure that the angles I'm cutting them are exactly the same…
Yeah, good call. Did some trimming and took it down from about 4000 tris to about 3000. Not sure exactly how high poly the bike will be, but say you have a motorcycle with a sidecar in your game. You're using the unreal engine, and it's a AAA title. It's something that will see a pretty good amount of screen time. Let's…
This was one of the most ambitious pieces I've worked on as a 3D artist, and I had an awesome time working on it. My favorite part about this project was doing the trim sheets and tiling textures, and it was so much fun to watch it all come together into a finished piece that I probably never thought I could make a couple…
I was wondering if anyone knew of a good resource for looking up the different limits games use? I'd love to know tri limits, maps that acceptable and any other knowledge. I've posted on Reddit and got a cool response for DOTA 2 (their workshop). I also found a nice video on youtube that detailed how Janus was created (for…
Thanks a lot guys! I'm definitely going to check deeper into the thread you posted, Bek. I'd like to use this project to try out a few things I never tried, such as handplane and maybe Ddo. Thanks for the quick paintover, benc, I already trimmed a few tris down on the legs :) I'm still unsure about what to do with the…
It looks like your polygon distribution is very uneven. You've got a lot more tris in the face than you need. Also, I can't tell from the front wireframe, but it looks like her feet are pretty "blobby" and lack structure. Also, I have to ask, why is her eye taking up so much room on the texture sheet? It is the same size…
I'm using Marmoset Toolbag as my primary texturing tool and I am very pleased with it. However, since I make game assets, I want to experiment with making my trim sheets in a rectangular textures rather than square as 1024x2048 to save on the number of texture files used. I attempted to set this up when baking, but all…
Blog #1 – Introduction: A New Chapter Begins My name is Muqaddas Aman (https://www.artstation.com/acceptedguy8) and welcome to the very first entry in my development blog series for Timeless Epoch, my final major project for the MA Games Art and Design. This project represents the culmination of everything I’ve learned so…
@Noren @iam717 thank you both for the feedback, it's helped a lot! I've made a little bit more progress on the blockout with adjustments based on your comments as well as some extra things I picked up on thanks to them :) Attaching the old version here for direct comparison: Scale blindness is something I'm still…
Ahh I see the deadline has been extended. That makes me a little glad, I've been busier than I expected and with little to no sleep my energy for projects has been super low. I'll see what I can make up in the next few days to try and get the ball rolling again. I did have a trim sheet made to see what a texture would look…
