Maybe they will fix max ability to extrude edges via holding shift. I mean who needs or wants that, right, there is an extrude edge button already. :D ! Well Max design is 3ds studio viz, that's all. They just changed the name to Viz for marketing and then to 3d Studio Design. So it's 3d studio Max except with limited…
Hi! Perhaps create an atlas of the front/ controls and planar project UVs. Extruded geometry used to detail closeup meshes could be mapped to some generic texture patches and removed for distance meshes. There was this thread recently, illustrating this on a flare gun handle.
I do things in this order for my characters: Zspheres, getting the overall shape with these is easier than dynameshing from a sphere/cube i find, so i spend about 15mins getting the right shape with zspheres, putting in fingers and other small extrusions at this point is optional - sometimes i do, sometimes i don't. Alot…
No offense, but if you've gotten better results with 10 sided geometry then 8 sided geo, you've screwed up somewhere. I went ahead and spent 30 minutes on these 2 models. Left one has 1 bump per poly, gives really nice, even results. Right one would/should give nicer results but that would involve tweaking the cage some…
I'm trying to do some things to the model I'm working on and everything I try to do to it has a huge effect on it because I guess the scale on it is very small, although I don't know how to change this. For example, if I extrude or put a modifier like Push on it and set the value as low as I can (.01), it extrudes/pushes…
Hey, could someone help me with this please..? I can't understand whats going on.. I've been using 3ds max for a long time now but I've never seen anything like this.. My UV mapping is gone haywire.. I'm creating a simple backpack to be exported to mudbox and I had a small issue with extruding the shoulder strap.. I was…
A spline would work but keep an eye on the sections of the loft, it can really blow the poly count up. After lofting, maybe go back and remove some of the edges that aren't really needed for the angles. You could also do it manually with a 8 sided cylinder. Extrude, rotate, extrude, etc... Do have and then mirror. Just a…
I've seen extruding fur done on black and white, not done as best as it could but it seems to look okay. They just made faces where they would like the fur to extrude (I'm not sure if their attached to the original mesh or not but it doesn't really matter) and gave it a partially transparent texture. seems to work quite…
So, here's an update. Polycount: 1366 I just kept on extruding. Trying to collapse edges in a sound manner along the way. Though I'm still not so sure on how to collapse around certain areas and still retain a good shape. I trying to figure out something smart to make the pelvis slightly better. Along with the face and…
OK but i still cant imagine how a floating object can give the illusion like the type is embedded into the mesh?I mean Extruded inwards. To me it sound impossible!I will read the other topics you suggested slave_one! Only thing i know is when i try to Extrude text or any complex shaped inwards to a mesh with a meshsmooth on…
