Of course you could add support loops to the edges to control skewing. Assuming the shading between modified and original is consistent, could even apply textures to original. Adding support loops to an instance of the mesh using something Blenders Bevel Modifier would keep both in sync.
Filter forge has a cool Loop node that allows to make a "Slope blur" doing it not only 32 layers/samples/iterations max but whatever you want with just one node , not a stairs you have to make manually? Do somebody know a way to recreate this ?
Hey there, When I activate my hotkey for loop slice, the mode defaults to "free" and instead I would like it to be "symmetry". I have to manually set it to symmetry each time. Can I change this so it always runs in symmetry mode? Thanks!
Is there a member function or function in maxscript to do the same as pressing the button in the Unwrap_UVW modifier panel "Unfold strip from loop"? I have looked over the maxscript help file but can't seem to find the solution. Any assistance with this would be appreciated.
I did a simple looping animation, but when I go to post infinity > cycle, not all the cycles turn out smooth. I'm just not sure what is causing the occasional blip in the cycle. I've attached a screenshot because I'm not quite sure how to explain it.
hey looking good ! Nice to de the progress :) just a question, why are you keeping the steps so high density? I'd keep some bevel at the edges but the faces can have just a couple loops, or is this for a closeup in animation? Same for the walls and floor, any loop not contributing to the shape shouldn't be modeled, unless…
I'm not 100% sure, but it might be happening because you don't have enough edge loops on your low poly to get a smooth bake. Try adding more loops to the curved parts of the low poly model.
the geo on the legs is excellent! do the same for your arms, straighten those horizontal loops, make them less like slanted rings. not sure why those two loops are so close to one another on the knees...
yeah, or leave intact the original loops. I thought there would be a simple hotkey for this :(. EDIT: I know this will automatically work if you remove the entire loop, but in some cases you don't want to do that ;). (like this one).
I use the panel loops feature which you mentioned. It's not that hard once you get used to using slice and the polygroup tools. http://docs.pixologic.com/user-guide/3d-modeling/hard-surface/panel-loops/
