Hello Polycounters ! :) This is my first thread on this forum so I'd like to present myself first. My name is Olivier and I'm studying in computer graphics for about 4 years. So I'm not entirely sure if this is allowed, but I was playing around with an MPQ editor on the Diablo 3 mpq files and wanted to try extract the textures for study. I managed to extract them as .tex files just fine, but haven't managed to find anything to convert them to DDS or TGA. I've tried the 'D3textureconv' tool but…
For a first attempt by following a tutorial it's not bad, you've started off pretty good. Looking at the sculpt, it would help if you studied some skeletons to help with some of the shape and positioning of the body (the clavicle is a bit off as well as the hips) and then some muscle studies to clean up the anatomy. A…
I went to a college where 3D was not the main focus of the course. It was what I really wanted to do, but the college really dumbed it down. I went on to take the first job I could get after college, similar to JO420, I was stuck there for 5 years. I am still not doing what I want, but that is changing. I believe that no…

QA/testing positions - like other types of "game studio" jobs, differ drastically depending on the studio and the types of games you're testing. It appears that some studios hire in bulk for crunch time testing on a project, don't pay all that well, and aren't very demanding. But there are definitely studios where QA is a…
i agree with you. Most studios don't put forth the effort. I was pretty much the character lead and character outsource manager on Ghostbusters, and that pipeline was very smooth. Of course I put in the extra effort to be at the studio when the Chinese studio was working. That meant many long nights on Skype giving…
