This is really nice. The thing that stands out to me is that the blue paint on the rounded base plate thing screams Photoshop. It looks a bit too much like it's been painted on using a digital application, rather than being real paint that's been worn down. Maybe try first blocking the colour in as a sharp-edged…
Here's a little tutorial I wrote for CGChat a while back, maybe it will be of some use to you. http://www.cgchat.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=20424&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 Also you say you used the default settings for exporting the .OBJ files from Max to ZBrush, try fiddling around with them (if your model is all…
Very jaundice, very blurry. You should try to work in solid brushes and block in color shapes. You might want to read over and do some of these tutorials, http://www.gfxartist.com/features/tutorials (Digital painting tips, tutorials and techniques) As well as give these a look, http://itchstudios.com/psg/art_tut.htm (VERY…

I advise you increase the resolution on other parts of the texture, instead of just making copies of the table leg. The legs look exactly the same, but a bump in the UV space on the tabletop could really help. I also think you should work on improving the look of the texture overall. 3DTotal has some great tutorials on…
Yes, this is my take as well. Most modern cameras apply digital corrections for distortion and chromatic aberration as well, this theoretically could make some difference at the processing stage. I assume the stitching software also reads the focal length info in the EXIF so it has an understanding of the FOV of the image…
I've just finished my second project attempting hair cards, it's something I'm wanting to try and improve on to be a better character artist. I would really appreciate feedback anyone has because it's a difficult thing to get right, and I want to improve! I used xgen to generate the hair and marmoset to bake the hair…
Hi all, while I was getting some feedback and critique on this: https://polycount.com/discussion/217196/wip-my-ar-journey#latest a friend pointed out that I've made the 3d model look exactly like the original piece and textures in real life. Since then, I've been wondering if creating an exact 3d model out of real-life…
Hello :) I'm looking for a
solution to capture complex mechanical parts from the real world to reassemble them digital. The options I'm
aware of are photogrammetry and CAD-scanning. Are there more
possibilitys and which one is the most practical method for
visualisation? For the visualisation i prefer Maya. Are there…
